Where are the cigars?
Where are the 911/dispatch calls coming out? Not just bits n pieces.
I want to hear the description of the suspect.
I want to know if the Officer contacted dispatch that he needs backup, he has eyes on a person who fits.
I want to know if the Officer who was on a medical call with EMS heard the traffic of the robbery.
I will not come against anyone, except to say hindsight is 20/20.
Ferguson PD could have handled this all a lot better then what they did.
I want to see/hear from Forensic's experts, outside of Ferguson PD.
How many times has this Officer been in this kind of situation. How did he handle it before.
I know He has a clean work record.
To me, toooo many questions.
I'll save my opinion on what happened until these questions are answered.

I don't know why you need to find out who has the cigars. Maybe someone picked them up & smoked um by now.

will be interesting to hear what the justification for not releasing the fact that michael was stopped for being a suspect in a felony robbery and assault until today was?

they must have known that information immediately, if not prior to the stop because he should have called it in. maybe he did, so then they would have had that information right at the outset of the investigation.

i wonder if a lot of this outrage, rioting, looting could have been avoided if they had released it right away.

maybe they have a good reason idk but it is deinitely unusual, when a police shooting happens you usually hear that same day/night something like "officers responding to a robbery found the suspects and X happened..." "officers stopped two men who were suspected of being involved in..."

but what we heard here was only that the origin of the incident was that they were walking in the middle of the street... until today.

Why is it wrong to expect human beings to restrain themselves until a full investigation is completed?

People are killed by guns everyday. I don't see accusations made against LE daily that they must have something to hide because they don't inform the public daily.

I don't see riots, looting, fire starting...
It solves nothing but to inflame those that truly care about truth and justice.

But in this case, without a single shred of real evidence, people are taking to the streets and behaving like the worst kind of senseless criminals.
On the last thread, someone asked me if I didn't believe the parents in this community didn't teach their children the same as I've taught mine. My answer is no. You teach by example...what I saw ...see...and hear...is a whole lot of anger and ignorance and criminal behavior.

If people behave worse than animals, and stoop to dangerous criminal behavior ...it's kinda hard to be respected in any way shape or form or be taken seriously. By anyone.

IMO

All I know is ...law enforcement typically don't comment on "on going investigations" why should they be forced to release information piecemeal fashion in this case??? Why can't they complete their full
Investigation before making a comprehensive statement?

Each circumstance is different. In this particular case, LE and city officials knew the public outrage was getting worse and worse because the original story that we kept hearing in the media was that the boys were stopped just because they were walking in the street. Unarmed and 1 was killed.

So city officials knew it was becoming a heated situation. At that point, IMO, they should have come out and gave a statement that they really were being stopped due to a report of a crime that they allegedly participated in. And if some sort of struggle ensued.

They could have been generic about it and not give specifics. But by not releasing that information, they allowed the situation to get out of control. Providing some very basic info could have prevented it IMO.

Chief Thom Jackson speaking:

we had tape for awhile
had to determine if anybody else charged w/crime & determined that wouldn't be t case

re second suspect>we determined he didn't commit a crime, and wasn't complicit in the crime

Pretty sure one report said the cigars were returned to the store (which made me think they aren't going to press charges against the second guy).

"Because he was walking down the middle of the street." - Thomas Jackson / Ferguson Police Chief (2nd press conference)

Following link is to an article about the morning press conference held by the Chief.

Ferguson Police Chief Botches Press Conference To ID Mike Brown Shooting Officer
By Ellen Killoran@EllenKilloran
on August 15 2014 12:17 PM

In an awkward press conference on Friday, Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson finally revealed Darren Wilson as the police officer who shot and killed Mike Brown, six days after the incident. The ID came after Jackson read what some felt was an unnecessary blow-by-blow of Saturday’s deadly events from a prepared statement – and struggled to stay coherent.

“He comes across as a bumbling, stumbling, inept leader,” said Joyce Newman, a crisis communications veteran and founder of The Newman Group. She believes that Jackson not only damaged his own department's reputation but also tainted the image of police officers in general. More...

Anyone posting here local to STL, within 50 miles or so? If not, it's difficult to know Ferguson and the areas that surround it, a lot of dynamics at play. I can identify with the parents, the community, and LE...it would have been a miracle of epic proportions to have handled this perfectly and avoided what ensued. Sometimes, things just go the way they go, it's why I caution people in the PP to roll on intellect and not emotion.

WOW thought so. Looks real bad for Wilson, now. And DJ will not be charged as accessory to robbery. JMO

In an interview with msnbc shortly after the report was released, Johnson’s lawyer confirmed that Brown had taken cigars from the store.

We see that there’s tape, that they claim they got a tape that shows there was some sort of strong-armed robbery,” said Freeman Bosley, Johnson’s attorney. “We need to see that tape, my client did tell us and told the FBI that they went into the store. He told FBI that [Brown] did take cigarillos. He told that to the DOJ and the St. Louis County Police.
