Oh Linda. I understand your opinion. Any chance you can just take a few minutes to try and understand why they may be acting this way. Try some compassion, that is all I am suggesting.

When I came to this topic, I had nothing but compassion.
Because of their behavior I now have ZERO,

I have compassion for Mike Browns loved ones. It's always sad when a young person throws their life away stupidly and unnecessarily.

Time for these people to get out and vote if they want different representation. Also, attending City Council meetings and participating in a civil manner might serve them well. Making demands, threats and shouting over other people at one meeting isn't going to help them. It's hard to believe they've been trying for years or decades to effect change since the facts show (links have been provided regarding statistics) they don't vote and they have never attended City Council meetings.
I hear ya! But right now "those people" are angry and discouraged and I just think that being angry back at them just ain't the answer. Hopefully the positive outcome to this situation will be just what you suggested. That the community will get out and vote, join the PD, become politicians etc..

At council meeting:
Added another, "We're not going to let you go back to business as usual."

Re: Rams game
One protestor, Umar Lee, says in a video circulating on YouTube, "This is about a message. There is no business as usual. There is no drinking and being merry while there is no justice for Mike Brown

BBM

Guess he forgot to tell those looters that there was to be no drinking.

OK, so y'all please check this out...

When I read that the newspaper said the SUV driver was arrested, my hunky meter pinged hard about that whole deal, especially with the video guy going to the station to show his video "proof" that he was a victim of "attempted vehicular homicide."

So I just re-watched the video a few times and... Well, y'all tell me what you see.

Here's the video.

Start around 2:40. The movement just before he says "Really? REALLY??!"... Is his" proof".

What do you see?

(ETA: that link should go directly to the right video on the page. If you just see a bunch of videos, choose the one that has the big red building in the background, and the guy in the red shirt walking in front of the silver car in the foreground.)

You mean the guy with the camera who intentionall walked right into the car and then claimed he got run over???

Thank God I don't live in Ferguson :happydance:

IMO, these protests AND this thread are no longer about Mike Brown. So I agree with you. But it does show us there is still a lot of hate and anger in this part of the world. Someday people are going to realize that you can't overcome hate with more hate. Yet that is what we do, from Ferguson, MO all the way to the Middle East.

There is nothing to indicate this shooting had anything to do with hate. LambChop has stated several times there is nothing indicating race played a role. So there is no hate to be overcome to begin with.

You can hear some of the crowd jeering at the black officer for 'betraying his people' ----

I thought they said they wanted more black officers?

They do. They want more to harass for not taking their side.

I am just saying that that behaviour will not change without compassion. So you can carry on having zero compassion but IMO it is that thought process coming from both sides that helping to carry on this conflict.

And when I say conflict I don't mean Ferguson. It's not just the people of Ferguson who are angry. The protesters are using this particular incident to voice their frustrations, it doesn't matter if MIke Brown deserved to be shot or not. The anger isn't about that... It is about a distrust towards LE. Whether justified or not it is real, they really do feel it.

Pffft!

That guy driving exercised great restraint.
I would NOT have.

Hey, wait a minute. She said sheep are dumb. At least we know how to not get run over by a car. That was not a nice thing to say about sheep.

Sheep rock! Especially when they stay out of the middle of the road!

Aww how cute. They got the little girls with their mini-bull horns....

I guess that's an improvement from their children in strollers with protest signs.

I can't believe I just said that was an improvement :gaah:

Yes I know. I find it highly unlikely that MB was shot out of hate or racism. I did not say that. But the protests are about racism. It is about a community of people who truly believe (whether they are right or not) that they are discriminated against.

It's a free country and they are free to remain as ignorant & as hateful as they please.

Just as I have the right to believe they couldn't have gone about change in a worse way.

This thread WOULD be about Mike Brown if some would stop making it about racism, which it clearly is NOT.

This thread is about the protests. And the protests are clearly about racism? Do you not agree?

You mean the guy with the camera who intentionall walked right into the car and then claimed he got run over???

Pretty much... But what I see looks more like he just reached his camera down and in. He started with the camera at his eye level.

Then it drops to his knee level and inward... And he doesn't say "REALLY!?", and there doesn't seem to be any contact, until after he moved his camera.

His move wouldn't have been to get the license plate, since he (and others) had already done that... with much fanfare.

But even if he was, I see no reason to arrest the driver.

The problem is Linda7NJ, that they don't feel this freedom you speak of. Again, right or wrong they really do feel that way.

The protestors don't even know what the protest is about imo.

Websleuths has an "ignore" feature if you'd rather not see certain posts.
* Click "Settings" in top right corner
* Click "Edit Ignore List" in far left column
* Write in name of any poster
* Click "Okay" then click "Save Changes"

I can attest to the fact that it really helps with the flow
