And I don't think I have to post the urban dictionary definition of gorilla. Yes, I do believe it was MEANT in the way you said it. But given other definitions yes, I do believe it showed a complete lack of empathy and understanding and was very insensitive to the issues going on currently. In other words, whoever chose those words was just an ignoramus (trying to use a word that has been used by others so that the words I'd use don't get snipped).

People see what they want to see. IMO You can tell a lot about what's on the inside of someone by that.

The context is media relations- where choosing your words matters.... and specifically mentions Ferguson. Sorry but, if we haven't been conned by a joke press release, then that media relations firm is a bunch of idiots. I prefer to think it was a sick joke.

Animals and gorillas are exactly the last words any media relations firm would be bandying around. It's too unsubtle to even call it dog whistling at this point.

I'm sorry but I grew up where things relating to primates were tossed around on the regular by racists in reference to black people so I find that whole Gorrilla thing a bit inflammatory. I don't live in MO but I live next door. If it was the sort of reference there that it was here (and still is by some) in the 70s and 80s it is indeed really hurtful and inflammatory. JMO.

I do feel for the officers who have to stay one step ahead to head off an escalation or violence. They must be tired, yet still working to stand in the gap. Those bicycle cops were right on the peripheral, aware and monitoring. These protestors do not give them enough credit on their ability to watch, IMO.
