i don't understand how any one can say the death of mike brown is not about race with any certainty

studies show that police officers are harder on black and latino criminal suspects than white suspects ...

i'm not suggesting wilson is racist ...but there is a such thing as implicit bias, or in other words prejudices a person might consciously reject, but reflexively influence their behavior ...which, studies also show, can trigger excessive violent action in police work

not to long after the mike brown incident i remember reading about how a white 19 yr old girl dashed away from her BMW sedan and kicked a police officer in the head after running a red light and slamming into another vehicle.

here's a link to her story: http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news...m-Hit--Run-Scene-274067861.html#ixzz3ETgPhe5c

the point i'm trying to make is unlike mike brown and the countless other of black and latino unarmed youth who died at the hands of the police, she is alive and able to repent for her mistakes

FWIW, I personally would have been ok with those officers whooping the dog snot out of that girl. She was clearly out of control and hurt innocent people because she was a brat. JMO, of course. As to OW & MB, if there is any truth to the story of MB assaulting OW & attempting to take his gun, then it is his fault & his fault alone that he is dead. Anyone who did that, regardless of color, would be gunned down. IMO.

"The arresting officers tracked her down moments later and, as they got the teen under control, she kicked one of the officers in the head, authorities said."

Not at all what OW faced with the anything but gentle giant.

I actually grew up in the ghetto when it wasn't cool to be a white kid living in an all black neighborhood/school. We all turned out differently (not by race). It all comes down to choice.

i applaud you

self accountability is important

and i would stress to any kid the importance of making the right choices

A group of protesters who had camped out for weeks in a parking lot on West Florissant Avenue were removed from the area on Friday by the police, who cited health code violations.

Andy Wurm, the owner of an automotive shop across the street from the police department, had allowed a small group of demonstrators to use an area of his parking lot since the protests began. But on Friday, he said in an interview, he asked them to leave.

“Every citizen in the city of Ferguson is a victim of the whole thing,” Mr. Wurm said. “Their property values are going down. Our business is down 60, 70 percent. I love what I do, but it’s harder and harder to get up and do what I do every day.”

but let's not fool ourselves, there is a such thing as racial disadvantage

Imagine what's it's like for a white kid at Normandy or Riverview Gardens High Schools.

Being told officer who attacked Josh is named Kirkwood (by a #Ferguson resident who has interacted w/ him before). @PRETTYRAMSFAN

But keep wearing those name tags. That's what's important  Make stalking easier for your neighborhood 🤬🤬🤬🤬.

Poor guy.

Fresh out of jail and no where to agitate. Resigned only to ugly tweeting :giggle:
