At the beginning of the protests, I couldn't make out the chants. I made up silly phrases just to amuse myself. I'm getting better as time goes along.

We were better off not being able to understand the chants.

Was on a lookabout for the current financial cost projections for the protesting in Ferguson. Someone may have addressed this already as I have been unable to keep up with the threads.

The writer of the article, Jacob Kurn, refers to the situation in Ferguson as simply an "unrest".

St. Louis County will spend more than $4 million on its response to the crisis in Ferguson...

That amount, which was calculated as of Saturday [Aug 30th] includes $2.5 million in overtime for police work.

The bill related to the Ferguson unrest will come out of the county’s emergency fund, which totals $5.9 million this year.

St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson said previously that the cost to the city was $740,849 in overtime and $161,783 for equipment.

Knowles said James’ story of coming out of gangs and drugs to found a company has been inspiring and has given city officials an invaluable perspective.

“We haven’t put it out there because he’s not the story,” Knowles said.

James, who was convicted of reckless homicide in Shelby County, Tenn., in 2006, said on Thursday the shooting was in self-defense. He added that he routinely discloses information about his past to his clients.

But a spokeswoman for the partnership agency who is paying his bills said she was unaware of his conviction until Thursday. About two hours later, Katie Jamboretz, of the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership, said the agency was severing ties with James.

Because he wasn't spewing out their scripted propaganda to go along with selected footage? Because his camera didn't "go on the fritz" the minute altercations started? Because he wasn't afraid to film footage that can be used to identify specific law breakers? Because he took too long a turn with the hula-hoop? :thinking:

Most of the protestors are young. Way too young to have had years of being stopped for traffic violations they think are unfair. One man yelled he had gotten $100 ticket he felt was unfair.

Do you think these "youngsters" are right or wrong? Do they even have a message that needs to be heard?

I read the article, and it does seem to be self defense. Sad that his life is ruined over this carp.

Those still pictures really do not tell the true story of what went on last night. A video of last night needs to be played instead. Let everyone hear how those NOT peaceful protesters were talking/yelling to police. Let everyone hear how those NOT peaceful protesters were threatening anyone and everyone that didn't go along with them. This carp needs to be stopped.

EXACTLY. Right in the beginning these pictures horrified me. There were shirtless, hands to the sky, seemingly howling at the moon.

When he was called a fake reporter he then agreed that they were fake protesters. That didn't go over well with the crowd.

The bizarre just keeps getting more bizarre. In theory, I don't have a problem with the guy being given a chance, but in practicality, with that background, just leaves me scratching my head on what people are thinking.
