I think it was a terrible idea for Chief Jackson to walk out amongst that angry mob calling for all the officers' deaths. It was very foreseeable that those in a murderous rage might try to reach him. He put himself and his officers in danger when they had to risk their lives and advance into that mob to protect him. That PR apology video spurred the Chief Jacka-- Resign riot last night. It was all over twitter - the apology was not enough. It fed their indignation. Him being so close to people who said they were willing to fight, die, and kill clearly proved too tempting. What if one of those officers who had to get in there was stabbed or shot? We've seen plenty of reports about rioters brandishing, shooting, knives confiscated, attacks on police. They know these people are out of control and committing crimes. Not a single head of LE should go march with them. Arrest them, disperse them, contain them.

Do we know why the cops had to move in? I know you say it was to protect him, but do we know that? I highly doubt I've seen all of the video from that incident, but I didn't see anyone immediately around the Chief that was creating a problem. Slightly behind and to his right. I was trying to figure out what had spurred that on last night but no one had an answer last night. Has more information come out today?

I agree, it wasn't smart for him to do that though. And I'm really not sure what the message is by actually marching with them as well. I would agree that the protesters message has been garbled much of the time but I'm not sure what the messages are from LE either. While I didn't agree with his approach, the only one that had a clear message was Belmar frankly. He came in and said we're here to beat you down so go home. Johnson came in and said I'm here to be your friend and then proceeded to gas his new found friends. I just can't figure out what purpose or what message there was to Jackson actually marching with the protesters.

I have posted it before Trident. Racism is prevalent in north county and it is present in the LE community. Maybe not by all, but I know for a fact with 100% certainty that it exists with some. The message is that that is not acceptable and has no place in society.

IMHO racism (the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races) is everywhere on this Planet. And the way these mobsters are acting, how can one think positive?! Why has North County/North City/East StL become $h*tholes? IMHO it's the criminal element/gangs moving into those areas effecting schools, housing prices, community pride, etc. Wonder why there are so many unsolved murders & crimes specific to these areas of StL metro? Because "snitches get stitches"

http://www.moga.mo.gov/statutes/chapters/chap307.htm

When people get tickets for their vehicles not being in proper working order.

That was the only thing I could think of too was that nearly anytime someone receives a speeding ticket, it is ultimately amended to a broken muffler or something so there are no points assessed but the municipality gets their money. I don't know what that means in the context of that statement though. Although what you cited are the state statutes, not the FPD's "system".

You mean the same as "I" do when my tires are bald, or my brakes don't work?

45 years old and I have never heard of anyone getting a ticket for such things here. Speeding tickets get amended down to things similar to that so that there are no points assessed, insurance rates don't go up and the city makes their money in exchange.

I don't see Captain Johnson. I don't see Captain Belmar. Not sure who is in charge. Not sure why all these officers are here. Unnecessary.

Brilliant. Rioting outside a police station and questioning why all the police are there.

I agree....
be careful how you post. ;) Apparently posters need to use AA instead of blacks.

LOL ... Kudos to that MB size black officer who pushed his way to reach Chief Jackson. I bet his orders aren't routinely ignored by punks.

I don't care about the prevailing theme in St. Louis. I do CARE what the decent, law-abiding citizens of Ferguson think. I also wonder why the parents/friends/relatives of these "protestors" think. I wonder why they don't rein them in, or do they agree with them? If so, why? I've heard nothing of any consequence against LE or the officials in Ferguson, but I sure have seen the ignorance and violence of the "unheard" ones.

Just to be clear, I was responding to another poster's comment of:

If we were watching, surely many people in the St Louis area were watching ... and hearing.

by letting him/her know that the reality is, is that a majority of St. Louis probably isn't watching or hearing or at least not to the degree we are.

Hello? Let's try a broken tail light, a headlight out, windows too darkly tinted. I call BS on the amended down. That only happens when someone is stabbed 85 times, THEN they amend it down to manslaughter or some such, depending... Maybe it's different in MO, but in NY, NJ. PA, and CT, I've seen this happen. Even been a "victim of police discrimination" myself, and I'm white. We need to get real and stop making up excuses.

ITA. We've ALL seen the racism in living color these past few weeks, and it wasn't from LE.

:cow:

That's not the question you asked me though.

Perhaps the police were guarding their house (station) because of the rioters threatening to burn it down.

Good point. They complained he touched them, but NFL sized Michael knocking Wilson back into his car, hitting him and struggling over gun ain't no big thing.

That was me/I. And given the demographics and ramifications of this incident to the whole StL metro area, I think a majority there are paying close attention.
