Exactly! I've run across that myself. One black friend, from Jamaica, was really pissed about that. Who's to know/how to know? I only knew when she called a black guy the N word. I called her on it, and then she TOLD me, LOL.

Like many others, Chief Jackson has received death threats. He or LE could have been injured or killed last night. I've supported him previously. Yesterday he made several important mistakes, IMO. If he truly did not recognize that this mob was dangerous, it's time for him to retire, or choose a new line of work .

And he's been jerked around, mentally, emotionally, and physically, ever since.

I know there are a lot of people who have been wanting to add him to the pyre with Wilson all along.

Count me out. Unless he turns on Wilson, I will not be joining them, considering all the BS he's had coming down on his head. It's not right nor fair.

Do we know why the cops had to move in? I know you say it was to protect him, but do we know that? I highly doubt I've seen all of the video from that incident, but I didn't see anyone immediately around the Chief that was creating a problem. Slightly behind and to his right. I was trying to figure out what had spurred that on last night but no one had an answer last night. Has more information come out today?

I agree, it wasn't smart for him to do that though. And I'm really not sure what the message is by actually marching with them as well. I would agree that the protesters message has been garbled much of the time but I'm not sure what the messages are from LE either. While I didn't agree with his approach, the only one that had a clear message was Belmar frankly. He came in and said we're here to beat you down so go home. Johnson came in and said I'm here to be your friend and then proceeded to gas his new found friends. I just can't figure out what purpose or what message there was to Jackson actually marching with the protesters.

BBM: Because some of the more peaceful protestors asked him to. He is their Chief. He has a right to do that. He also had a right to have the officers right there with him for protection. The officers were pushed back and I guess it's just not a good idea to push away an officer, because, well they probably felt a threat since they had listened to hours of chanting about how these people wanted them all dead. Plus you can't touch an officer without permission, much less push one. jmo

IMHO racism (the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races) is everywhere on this Planet. And the way these mobsters are acting, how can one think positive?! Why has North County/North City/East StL become $h*tholes? IMHO it's the criminal element/gangs moving into those areas effecting schools, housing prices, community pride, etc. Wonder why there are so many unsolved murders & crimes specific to these areas of StL metro? Because "snitches get stitches"

Yes, it exists everywhere. A isn't in a position of authority. A isn't getting paid by tax dollars. Would love to end racism in all its forms but until we can get close to that day, I'll settle with removing it from those in a position of authority who are paid by tax dollars. And yes, there is a problem with thugs protecting thugs. Just like we talked about yesterday. Too many lawyers protect lawyers, doctors protect doctors, thugs protect thugs and cops protect cops. It goes on everywhere and I'd like to see that mentality end and let accountability take place when a lawyer, doctor, or cop does wrong.

Protestors are referring to those arrested as "hostages". This appears to be a war to many of them.

Per twitter, sounds like some of those arrested are at St Ann PD, some may be at FPD? Some on 24 hour hold. Previously, 24 hour hold seemed to be for more serious charges, like Shahid's assault of LE.

To be fair, they were not dangerous. The protestors were just not properly prepared for what happened when the Chief decided to walk out with them. He took a long time in discussions with someone in the group before he decided to move out into the street among them. Frankly that takes a lot of guts. It sounds as if some of the protestors got a little too close to the officers and began pushing, which was unnecessary. They had the whole street to spread out in.

The problem is that the protestors may put themselves in danger because not all citizens feel as safe as the Chief did last night and may use force against them if they feel threatened. But as far as being dangerous no, threatening yes, guilty as charged. No one I saw last night appeared to present a clear and present danger. Biggest problem I saw were their darn cameras and them tripping over themselves trying to get pictures. jmo

I don't know what to say. I must not have been clear enough in my post, but I don't know how to be any clearer. I wasn't only referring to your post, nor just to today/last night.

OK, one more try:

Does anyone not recognize that Chief Jackson is being directed, advised, jerked around, HANDLED by very powerful people - people who don't give two chits about him or Wilson, and object to the way he handled things that first week?

Judging his abilities or decisions made under those circumstances... I don't see the logic.

I think Holder and a lot of other people would love nothing more than for us to turn on the chief and Wilson.

The only decisions this man has made on his own that we know of have been good ones, imo, so I will support and defend him until I see him making a stupid choice not under their pressure.

He defends his men. Hug a was NOT his idea.


Anyway.

For anyone who missed his interview Deb posted last night, I recommend it. There's a lot to analyze.
