As long as the perception of a majority of the people who live there is that they are being targeted and mistreated the problem will never be solved.

It is unconscionable that a police department, that is primarily white, lording over a town that is predominantly black, is not being held accountable for escalating the troubles in Ferguson.

This is not to say that the people who are looting/breaking the law should not be held accountable, as well.

Until they have a diversified/integrated THE Ferguson Police Department, I suggest to you that there will never be peace in Ferguson. IMO

Well said. A whole lot of wrong on all sides and until all sides acknowledge their own wrong true peace will be difficult to attain.

I don't think there is any way anyone who has watched all the riots and protests and the many crimes committed during them could think police "lord over" this town or that these protestors fear police. Calling for crimes against the wives and children of LE, Wilson's dead body, "we want all of you dead", plotting to burn down a pizzeria because he wouldn't bow to them, threatening to burn the police department, city hall, and the whole city down after doing exactly that to the QT and attempting to burn the BBQ place. Firing on police, police cars, choppers, etc. Heck, they cheer they want Wilson dead regularly.

I'm glad the grand jury gets to see all the information, including the video and stills of Michael's strong arm robbery. I bet they'll see the THC tox (I wonder if there was more he tested positive for) and his juvenile record too. McCulloch's been great at making sure every piece of information is presented, and every witness asked to testify, IMO.

They should definitely not walk away, they should fight for their community, but I do believe it is only a few miscreants that are doing the looting and the illegal acts. The videos show that for the most part the people protesting are just using their rights to protest in a calm and legal manner.

That is an elected position, right? If so the voters will get him out, at this point the blacks hate him and the non-black voters are none to happy with him either.

no, I don't believe the police chief of Ferguson is an elected position if that is what you're asking

someone has to pay for what? those cigarillos?

I support Office Darren Wilson & all LEO who are protecting us & keeping us safe !!!

Apparently on the radio today McCulloch said "the law should apply to everyone, even someone walking in middle of street" re: MB. #Ferguson
@deray

Right - you cannot obstruct traffic

  • #888
Guess those actions are being ignored.

Much like Michael's crimes that day. Looking at his actions, I believe these are the charges he would have faced had he lived.

Obstructing traffic
Disobeying a lawful order/Obstructing a police officer
Disorderly conduct
Resisting or interfering with arrest - Class D Felony
Assault
Strong arm robbery (2nd degree robbery) - Class B felony
Assault on LE
Attempted Murder

Tthe NG should be brought in to control that part of the problem. The people of Ferguson do not trust the police so anything that is done, even to looters, who damn well need to be dealt with, will still be a problem.

I'm glad they get to see it as well. To listen to some, you'd think he didn't even do it. To listen to others, you'd think it was the most heinous crime of the century. Thankfully they get to see it for what it is and pass their own judgment.

You have a legal right to do so. Police will often try to discourage it, but accountability should be a two way street, IMHO. Why would anyone want less rights? Mind boggling, MOO.

Hmm, not sure it's about not wanting less rights. But, hey, whatever! MOO

We don't know that the majority who live there perceive they are being targeted or mistreated. The instigators of the unrest are not all residents.

I assume that little tiny DJ has modified his appearance significantly since 9 Aug

Especially if the information GotNews received from a police source bears out: that he aided in the assault on Wilson and his statements during his interview with LE don't match what he said on camera.

No, you don't

Mind Boggling for sure

and apparently, that won't be enough . . .

Absolutely NOT! Wow - even as an atty & requesting to record the event, LE will shut me down . . . thank Gawd I watch my Ps & Qs Dayum

Still shocked by the lack of common sense in today's World

Can ya give me a link to a case that upholds any law that say you can't videotape a traffic stop? I took a quick look and it seemed everything I read said you have the right to videotape it. If that's true, I guess there just needs to be a distinction between lawfully shutting you down and someone just bullying you into shutting it down.

@deray

Someone needs to ask Mr. McCulloch how many speeding tickets were issued by a cop to a cop if the law should apply to everyone.

In time, yes. You're looking at a very small snippet in time when anger levels are already raised. Will they always receive angst from some? Obviously. All LE does. But will be be as bad as it is now? No.

My sons good friend is a black LAPD officer. He is treated with great disrespect by many from his community. His kids are not allowed to tell any of their classmates that their Dad is a cop. They say he is in the army. lol

I have a friend who grew up there. White flight happened decades ago, but many of the white people still associated with Ferguson are rabid racists. She can't even handle the racist tirades of her relatives who still live in the STL area. It's not something that happened yesterday and it's not going to be solved by tomorrow. Also, who benefits from poverty and an underclass? That is the question ALL Americans need to be asking. Pointing fingers at rioters, who most likely have no hope of anything just keeps letting the real perpetrators of these farces get away.

Well I must say that one of their hopes became a reality last night when a police officer was shot and they all cheered. Not exactly the image they need to project to make their point. They were at the point of hysteria when there was a rumor that a child had been killed for shooting the officer. There was no child but protestors were convinced there were and probably still feel the police are covering up yet today.

Decades as in 3

I give no credence to racists but I sure know what's happening in certain areas of StL & other metro areas in America
