Dorian Johnson version of events in interview with Farrah Fazal.
The red font at the end is the interviewer questions. I put these in because he contradicts himself. JMO

  • • It was around 1:40, 2 o’clock
  • We were walking down the street an empty street.
  • cars begin to come but they passing us, nobody’s honking their horns.
  • • Nobody is yelling out the car, ‘hey kids. Get out the street.’ Nobody is making any wrong turns to get around us so, we didn’t feel like we was causing any harm to anyone.
  • • we’re both headed home and the officer’s approaching us and as he pulled up on the side of us, he didn’t say ‘freeze, halt’ or nothing like we were committing a crime.
  • • He said, ‘get the eff on the sidewalk.’ More like chastising from a father or something, where you are doing something wrong, you know, not committing a crime.
  • • my friend Big Mike didn’t speak
  • • I told the officer that we were a minute away from our destination and that we would be out the street shortly.
  • • we proceeded to walk again because we thought the officer proceeded to drive because we felt like we were doing no wrong.
  • • we heard gears. I don’t want to say his gears, but we heard the switch in the direction he was going. Because, when he stepped on the gas pedal, and reversed. His tires made a screeching noise and, if we didn’t hear the tires, we may would have been hit by the rear of the vehicle.
  • • we stepped back just in time
  • • he is at an angle where we are so close to his door and him,
  • • that when he tries to thrust the door open aggressively, it doesn’t come an inch out before it strikes both of us.
  • • He is a larger man than me, so it hit (Mike) more than it hit me, but we both felt it and instantly closed back on the officer.
  • • I guess he felt he couldn’t get out, his arm extended out the window, grabbed my friend around the neck.
  • • He didn’t say step back or anything like that.
  • • He started to pull my friend into the window, as if we was trying to pull him through the window now.
  • • he’s angry because anybody would be angry if someone was putting their hands on their throat.
  • • he has an angry face but he is never trying to go towards the officer so much that he pulls away from him.
  • • I am standing not feet away, not even inches away, an inch away from everything that is happening while it’s happening.
  • • can see inside the window at the officer’s face that he is making.
  • • can hear his verbal threats that he is making towards my friend.
  • • my friend is not making any verbal threats, threating his life but he is using profanity as ‘let me the eff go. We didn’t do anything wrong. Get the eff off me.’
  • • he never once attempted to grab for this officer’s weapon.
  • • He never once attempted to hit the officer or pull the officer out of the car like the officer was trying to pull him inside the car.
  • • I heard ‘I’ll shoot. Imma shoot you.’
  • • I am so close to the window that I don’t even have to lift up to see what he is holding in his hand.
  • • he is already, he is still holding my friend with one arm, and now with the other hand, he is pointing his weapon.
  • • The second time he says, ‘I’ll shoot,’ it wasn’t even a second later when the gun went off.
  • • my friend was hit.
  • • I looked at my friend and I seen the blood.
  • • it was almost like the officer was in shock, because when my friend got shot, that was the
  • • time he let go. He never let him go from the time he first initially grabbed him until the first shot went off and the officer let go.
  • • that is how we were able to run at the same time.
  • • his vehicle is parked in a way that both lanes are blocked.
  • • the cars are here – three vehicles lined up
  • • first car I see, I duck behind for cover because I fear for my life.
  • • I don’t understand why this officer is shooting his weapon at us
  • • (was officer still shooting) No, I felt like the officer is in shock because we were running for two minutes or not that much
  • • I knew the officer immediately got out of his car
  • • he said, ‘keep running, bro.’ and, he kept running past me
  • • I tried to get a gain on it and I stood up as best as I could, as far as I could
  • • I am watching the officer and he is pursuing my friend now.
  • • I still feel like he was in shock because I am standing in plain sight, but it’s like his vision is not on me, anger is not at me.
  • • He is going directly for my friend and his weapon is drawn.
  • • it wasn’t a second after he passed me, he fired another shot.
  • • It struck my friend in the back.
  • • my friend stopped running because he felt the second shot
  • • first one I felt like he was in shock.
  • • second shot hit him and he felt it
  • • His hand immediately went in the air
  • • he turned around to the officer, face-to-face.
  • • He started to tell the officer that he is unarmed and that you should stop shooting me.
  • • Before he can get his second sentence out, the officer shot several more shots into head and his chest area.
  • • He fell dramatically in the fetal position.
  • • I begged and pleaded the car that I was hiding behind to just put me in their car and drive off anywhere. I don’t care where you drop me off at.
  • • I understand why they pulled off.
  • • when I couldn’t see nobody else, I just took off running as fast as I could and I didn’t stop.
  • • I did not hear once he yell ‘freeze, stop, or halt.’ Nothing or anything like that
  • • He has been struck and he is still aware to tell me, ‘I can see you. Go. Keep going.
  • • he is trying to tell the officer that he is unarmed
  • • he knew he was being shot and trying to tell (the officer) to stop shooting him.
  • • He couldn’t feel the shots
  • • he continuously shooting him at point-blank range.
  • • I said, begged the people in the car that I was taking cover behind to let me in so I could get to a safe location as fast as I could.
  • • After they denied me, I took it upon myself to get out of the situation after I snapped back into reality. I just took off running
  • • What was the officer doing? I was trying to get to a safe spot. So, I was more trying to get away from the officer then trying to see where he’s going.
  • • when I returned to the scene, not three or four minutes after, I saw the police car he was in – the truck – but I did not see the officer anymore.
  • • No paramedics came.
  • • The officer didn’t at no point in time get on his dispatch to call for backup.
  • • I cannot describe the officer unless I saw him again.
  • • He didn’t say anything. He didn’t turn around. He didn’t look for me. He didn’t say anything, I just ran.
  • • when they (MB family ) arrived on the scene, the officers that were out there at the time didn’t know what was going on and didn’t know what happened.
  • • they was not giving the family a comfort level to calm them or ease them a little, because they didn’t know.
  • • The officer was not around.
  • • Like an hour or two later family found out MB was dead
  • • First shot I knew he was shot because I seen the blood splatter. And I seen it splatter on his right up under his right wing. So I just knew he was hit.
  • • Why haven’t you talked to anybody? No one has contacted me. No one has said ‘hey, we are looking for you. We want you. You are the prime suspect,’ or nothing like that. I understand it has been a lot on their hands. But, in a situation like this, you want to get that under quickly.
  • • The county police never called you? They haven’t contacted me personally. No.
  • • They said that they called lots of times and left messages for you, but you have not received any of those messages? I have received messages that they have contacted and wanted to set up and talk to me, but when we tried to reach out to them, at the time there was a lot going on and the chief just couldn’t find the time to do it at the moment.

This should be in the media thread yes?

MODS....How do we add to that BTW, if we want to suggest an article.

As hard as I try, I can't envision the BBM.

LOL I don't envision DW trying to drag MB through the window, either! I can envision him trying to detain MB long enough to get his weapon out and from there, make an arrest, though. Just an idea, save the tomatoes, they are too yummy to waste ! JMO JMHO

Great! Proud of you nephew! Neither of my adult children have ever been disrespectful to any authority figure, teacher, LE, etc.

But we don't live in a perfect world with perfect people. As Islandmixed tried to explain, if I'm understanding him right, there are some who don't always follow the rules, the law, or the line ALL the time. It doesn't mean that those people should be shot dead.

What a perfect world we would live in if all kids behaved like your kids. There would be no need for police at all in that case. YKWIM?

I've seen nothing at all to indicate Officer Wilson didn't uphold his sworn oath.

Hmm....have you seen the dash cam footage of Reese Witherspoon when her husband was pulled over for DUI, and she was also intoxicated?

She is a 30-something year old mother and Oscar-winning actress, yet she was definately talking back to police, resisting police orders, and being defiant. She was resisting police orders for her and her husband, did I mention that? She was arguing with the police, did I mention that too?

There are, I'm sure, thousands of teens getting in trouble each day for various things who talk back to police and try to defy orders at first.

JMO.

Not quite sure what this has to do with this case, except to show different people defy and are disrespectful to LE?

What she did was wrong, no matter if she was 18 or in her 30's. She definitely should have known better. I'm just thankful she didn't assault LE or try to take his gun.

DebinGa thanks for the link. This is the second time I have seen "chest" shoot

Michael Brown was shot in the head and chest multiple times, according to Mary Case, the St. Louis County medical examiner.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...t-from-the-front-had-marijuana-in-his-system/

While Case declined to comment further, citing the ongoing investigation into Brown’s death, another person familiar with the county’s investigation told The Washington Post that Brown had between six and eight gunshot wounds and was shot from the front.

bbm I don't recall seeing chest shots on the diagram
bbm

I'm with you, I've seen the autopsy report pics posted hereat WS and haven't seen anything that shows or mentions chest
wounds.
Makes me questin where these reporters get their facts. kwim?

See my post in response to poster Linda7NJ....in that case Reese Witherspoon should have been shot down too.

Who here has stated that someone should be shot down for disrespecting and defying LE?

As well as I can remember, Reese didn't physically assault LE or try to get to his gun?

She's also really tiny, too, maybe 5' something and 100 something lbs? Not quite as scary or dangerous as a 6'4 and 292 lb man IMO

No ones knows what this "altercation" was except what limited eyewitness accounts have become public.

How MB was actually standing or walking, whatever, in the relationship to the officer firing his weapon can NOT be accurately stated until the path of the bullets into MB's body can be substantiated.
If the one shot to the arm came from the rear, (what some witnesses said was "his back") MB MAY have turned around and raised his hands.....
If MB had his hands raised, the entry wounds on his arms CAN substantiate it. If he grabbed his wounded arm, it would validate him holding his wounded arm with his other, over his stomach. The continued shots dropped him to his knees and forward, for the last shots to his head as he fell.

Do a demonstration of the above with your body.

There's a lot of "theories" about this or that, but no one walks with their palms facing forward.

And I honestly have to say, if you don't have experience with firearms, have never gone hunting, been in war situation, or actually shot someone, it is NOTHING like what the movies portray.

I don't think we'll see Wilson's report until all the witnesses have made their statements to LE, and it'll be finely tailored to shed doubt on their statements in favor of the officer.

You don't bring a knife to a gun fight. Regardless of what happened in the convenience store, MB did not strong arm a clerk with a gun.
Let's assume Wilson's gun was on his right side, not only is it the furthest away from the window, let's also assume it had a holster snap to keep the gun in it's holster. MB couldn't just grab the weapon out of it's holster. Then you have the obstruction of the seat belt clipped over the holster. The only person who could easily access the gun was Wilson by leaning to the right, hitting the release on the seat belt, unsnapping the snap with his thumb and pulling out the weapon......
Was MD trying to deflect the gun if Wilson had brought it up? From a far vantage point might it look like MB was "punching" when he might have actually been trying to direct the muzzle away from his face?

And why would someone who just stole some cigars want to get into with LE? Could it be that after Wilson said "Get off the Fing street", drove a few feet forward, then reversed quickly almost hitting the 2, and striking them when he opened the door?

I think I'd go up to the window and ask "Dude, do you have a problem?"

From all that has been reported, Wilson set the "tone". I have yet to hear that Wilson said, "We have a medical emergency down the street, could you please move to the sidewalk?" Respect begets respect.

No one can verify whether Wilson heard the BOLO or it had even been issued yet. Conflicting stories.

Beautiful post. ITA. Sums up beautifully everything I have been thinking thus far.

I think that Wilson saw the BOLO once he started driving off, that's when he backed back up to the boys. This second time, he came in with an attitude, IMO, just like you said.

We don't know what OW said or did at that moment. I think Dorian is covering up some of the verbal back and forth between OW and the boys, because he wants to minimize his own involvement in any of this. As has been linked to, he already has an arrest out for him, now he's caught up in a robbery as well as murder involving a police officer. Is it so hard to understand why he would not disclose certain parts of the story, the parts which include him or make him look bad? His friend MB is already dead, now he has to save his own a**.

You're right about the "tone," and if Juan was taking this case, he would make sure he drums that point into the jury just like he did with the Richard Chrisman trial.

JMO.

For those "who don't always follow the rules, the law, or the line ALL the time"(your quote) should expect to be held accountable for that and also expect the consequences that occur. Threatening any LE no matter what skin color LE's, is against the law. Also against the law is not obeying LE.

Point is easy to say MB should have grown up, been mature, etc..

When people who really should know better, do stupid things too.

No one expects 5 year olds to know better, which is why they are ALWAYS supervised by adults!

If an 18 year old did not realize that robbing stores and attacking police officers is "wrong and dangerous" then his family never should have allowed him to go in public unsupervised as obviously such an individual would have some sort of mental impairment and need constant supervision for their own safety.

I'll repost this from my first post last night. I get the feeling some may not have seen it. From Nancy Grace 8/20/14:
NG: But I`m going to tell you that there are reports this police officer has suffered severe facial injuries, including an orbital eye socket
fracture, and was nearly beaten unconscious by your clients` son, Michael Brown, before firing his gun.
Now, do I know this to be true? I do not. These are reports coming out of the prosecution`s camp. And I am wondering what your response is.
I want to hear it from you, Daryl, because if Michael Brown beat this cop in the face to start things off, then no jury in this -- no grand jury is
going indict him.

DARYL PARKS, BROWN FAMILY ATTORNEY: Well, first of all, Nancy, without question, we know that there was a major altercation at the car.
There`s no question about that. So you`ll never hear me say there wasn`t a major altercation within the car. There was even a gunshot...
GRACE: Well, with the car...
PARKS: Within the car.
GRACE: ... or at the car?
PARKS: At the car.
GRACE: So you say it happened in the car?
PARKS: The officer was still partially in the car, is what we`ve been told.
Now, take into consideration in this case that we have a video of
the officer right after. He`s standing there with the other officer...

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1408/20/ng.01.htmlhttp://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1408/20/ng.01.html

So the "tussle" became an "interaction" then a "strong interaction" and now it's a "major interaction." I believe Parks tried to backtrack but NG caught him with "within the car."

I've said this at least 10 times....if the other side is admitting to this, especially when using such specific--some might argue sanitized--word choices, then it's likely even worse than the way they're presenting it.

It's interesting to me that when describing the "major altercation" he never once describes OWs actions, ie., the officer was hitting, punching, or forcibly restraining MB.

Also, his evolution of these admissions likely mirror the way DJ changed his story, b/c let's be real, telling a reporter that MB was "shot down like a dog" is an experience that is in no way comparable to relating what happened when you're questioned by police, and/or federal officers.

I understand thats the law of the police, but as a social worker who works with youths and has been on the other side of a lot of that, i cannot nod my head and feel right about it. BUT i get it, extreme but i get it.

Thank you for your service to our youth :happydance:

Do you think you could use this case as a teachable moment with them?

  • #556
I would hope by the age of 18 every man and woman of every color would have the basic tools necessary to survive a police interaction.
They should know the time to argue isn't with the police, but the judge. If their is a grievance of professionalism, file a report. There are procedures for that as well,

By the age of 18, I expect people would understand it's against the law to rob, steal and assault others. That there can be very serious consequences for engaging in those sorts of behaviors.

All IMO

If you find another live stream link, please post. In my opinion, the "reporter" in this link gives his opinion. I wish @timcast Tim Pool with VICE news as still live streaming.
I hear you.. I typically just watch it muted when he is talking.
