It does seem odd none of his family was there and from what I can tell his family seems close. Maybe it was one of those things like why come when he will just be in there a matter of minutes. I dont know how long it was but could be it.

They are not local so... maybe they have jobs to go to. Maybe they knew it would only last a few minutes. Maybe they are angry about what he has admitted to and are too horrified? Could be many reasons. JMO

Husband charged with killing Jennifer Rothwell appears in court; second date set

Jan 27, 2020

In a rare move, the judge in Rothwell’s case approved having a camera in the courtroom for the Monday morning hearing.

Judge set his preliminary hearing for April.

But Judge Jason Dodson told Beau Rothwell, 29, that he would likely not appear for the [April] hearing as his case is expected to go before a grand jury sometime in late February or early March. Should the grand jury indict Rothwell, the April hearing will become moot as his case will proceed to trial.

West County man accused of killing Jennifer Rothwell makes initial court appearance

Jan 27, 2020

During the initial court appearance, Judge Jason Dodson said Beau would continue to be held without bail. He also set the next hearing in the case for April 6, but the case is expected to go before a grand jury before then. If the grand jury indicts Beau, the case will proceed to trial without the April hearing.

Beau Rothwell makes first court appearance since charged with killing his wife

Jan 27, 2020

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – The Creve Coeur man accused of murdering his pregnant wife in November 2019 appeared in court Monday for the first time since his arraignment.

Beau Rothwell was mostly stone-faced and barely spoke up when a judge asked, “Do you understand you’re being held with no bond?”

The judge allowed a camera in the courtroom Monday. It was the first time we saw Rothwell since he was arrested in mid-November. He shuffled up to the judge in shackles. He mostly stared straight ahead except when talking to his attorney. We could see him swallow when the judge said a grand jury will review the case next month.

The 29-year-old is charged with second-degree murder and tampering with evidence.

Prior to her death, Jennifer looked up “what to do if your husband is upset you are pregnant" on her cellphone.

Here’s a look at the timeline of the case:

Nov. 11

Beau was seen on camera buying cleaning supplies, including bleach, carpet cleaner and gloves.

Nov. 12

Beau reported Jennifer missing around 9:45 p.m. He told police he last saw her leaving their home in the 12600 block of Northwinds Drive early that morning.

Later in the morning, while out on a routine patrol, Creve Coeur police found her car near Olive Boulevard and Fee Fee Road, about a mile away from their home.

Nov. 13

St. Louis County police obtained a search warrant for the couple’s home and found the carpet soaked with bleach and large areas of blood in the carpeting and underlying pad.

Beau was arrested that night.

Nov. 14

Police reclassified Jennifer’s disappearance as a homicide investigation and shortly after that, Beau was charged with tampering with physical evidence.

Police continued to search for Jennifer.

Nov. 15

Beau made his first court appearance. His bond went from $100,000 to $500,000 and he was ordered to surrender his passport and have no contact with Jennifer’s family.

Shortly after his court appearance, the St. Louis County Prosecutor’s Office charged him with second-degree murder.

Detectives used Jennifer’s parent’s DNA to see if it matched with the blood found in the house and it was a match, according to court documents.

Beau was being held without bond.

Nov. 18

Beau and his attorney meet with detectives, and Beau told them where they can find Jennifer's body.

Police find her body in Lincoln County, about 45 miles away from her home, near the Cuivre River State Park.

Aug. 31

God these idiots that just can’t get a divorce
Seriously. What in anyone’s mind helps them to think murder would be the easiest solution? I just can’t even begin to fathom why the hell there are SO MANY cases like this.

It’s pretty sickening..all in all it makes you stop and wonder if you can trust anybody at all?

There is speculation/evidence that he was having an affair, and wanted out of the marriage without the added burden of a child/child support:

Jennifer Rothwell had looked up “what to do if your husband is upset you are pregnant” on her cell phone before she went missing, according to search warrants.

She was about six weeks pregnant, and her husband told detectives where to find her body.

He was also having an affair, according to a source close to the investigation.

Thank you for this info. So sad. Reminds me of Laci Peterson.

It really does feel like Scott Peterson. The one difference being he confessed and disclosed her location, at least.

I can’t imagine what these families go through to try to grieve and heal. What a horrendously selfish act, I will never understand.

I believe learning the judge allowed a camera in the courtroom is likely what kept both families out of the courtroom. We know the case went to the grand jury and BR indicted for first-degree murder so I'm ready for this coward to spare both families more grief and take his bunk in the big house. D I V O R C E -- he had options.
