Oh man...I did the same thing. I saw Indy Gal's name and I hoped beyond all hope that Kara had been found. Still keeping Kara and her loved ones in my prayers.

Helpless???? Huh seems as though there are plenty of people all over this world willing to help your family. You keep turning down our offers. All I see the parents doing are fundraisers that no one knows what the money is being used for. We all see it isnt being used to help find KAra.

"Here we are four months later, and we don't know anything. We don't know any more than we did day one. And your mind does wonder and makes you think something bad did happen," Rhonda Beckford said.
I do understand that this is a mother speaking, but I even know a lot more than day one of her missing. If you think something bad has happened wouldnt you be out there searching for your daughter night and day. Hell you dont even have to search, just make a phone call or two and it would be done for you.

I am so sorry to freak you guys out. I know everytime i see a post here my heart drops. I just cant stop thinking of Kara.

I have also found this... Karas family memeber there is saying they have contacted the search teams. Could this person over there be FKK?? I have been reading newest to oldest so start at the end.

You raised an excellent question about where the fundraiser money is going. I would like to know the answer to that! Maybe someone should contact the local paper and see if they can perhaps look into it.

I don't blame you for being angry, Indy! It is very frustrating knowing that the offers for help have been forthcoming and they have turned them down. I hope it is true that they are considering search teams, but at this point I find it very doubtful. They haven't cared enough before...so why start now?

I say they need to take a very serious look at the Stepfather again. The way things have played out or I should say...stalled out...could be because he doesn't want them looking in the right direction.

oh goodness, i cant believe she hasnt been found and nothing new has happened! I've had this question for a long time, Does belton highschool not have cameras out in their parking lots?? If they did and checked them, they would definitely see Kara walking out and what car she got into or where she walked or whatever she did. Or is it a matter of them not checking it and it being taped over?

You know Honey, I have been reading the Maddie thread and people are all over them about the fundraising money, why not this case??? Did you read the topix? You bring up an EXCELLENT idea!! I will be finding all the info on papers to contact and will post them. Hell even Belton PD. I will find all the info and if you guys dont mind writing letters too.

Local residents are being proactive in the search. Yard signs continue to be put up urging residents to call 911 if they see anyone resembling Kopetsky or have information about her disappearance. Recently, a new batch of homemade signs with various questions about the disappearance and urging the viewer to call 911 with any information. A committee has been formed to provide another means of consistent communication with the public on upcoming events to help promote the search for Kopetsky. It mentioned her parents were going on Maury. I would like to see them go on a talk show and explain the relationship between the stepfather and Kara. It would certainly be worth watching. Maybe I should write to Maury and suggest he ask the "hard" questions.

I too am writing the Maury Povich show. I think it's pitiful that they keep doing fundraiser's to "help in the SEARCH for Kara", but in reality there is NO search for Kara.

I was in Belton a few weeks ago and there were purple find Kara signs all down what i guess would be the main business corridor which was great to see. I tried going to the Maury site to see if we could figure out when the show would be aired, because from reading the article it looks like they have already been there and come back. I havent watched his show in many years, but from looking at his website it appears most of his shows are all on paternity results and cheating spouses? Maybe I have the wrong Maury? I really do hope there is something going on behind the scenes that we don't know about such as a PI or something. I have a hard time understanding all the fundraising but no searches being done also. It was also great to read in the article that the Belton police are still receiving new leads every week. I pray that something turns this case around and Kara is found.

I don't understand these parents at all. Maybe at first they thought that Kara had just left and would come back home. I don't know. But I do know that they haven't done one thing to help find her. It is as if they don't care that she is missing. How long can you bury your head in the sand.

I can only go by what I would do if my daughter was missing but I think most of us would do the same thing and it wouldn't be to sit home and do nothing.
Maybe at first they didn't know what to do to find Kara but I know that they have been contacted and given all sorts of resources to contact for searches, etc. With all of the resources out there why in the world wouldn't they use them???? That is just strange to me. It doesn't sound like her and her stepdad got along well so maybe he is just a happy that she is gone. Maybe he has convinced his wife that she just took off on her own.

If these parents aren't planning on doing any searches then they shouldn't be raising money for that purpose. I think when people donate money to a cause like this the money should have to be accounted for. People send money in good faith that it will be used for whatever purpose they were told. People want to help but not if they are being taken for a ride. It also hurts people who need the help and are sincerely going to use the money for a true purpose.

If perhaps the reason she is missing is because of the stepfather...they wouldn't be as eager to set up searches or go to great lengths to find Kara. Finding her could mean he goes to jail for life or worse...IF he had something to do with her disappearance. Going on various shows and doing tid bits along only give the "impression" they are looking for her...but as we can see by being here and involved this long...it isn't really happening.

I want LE to take a serious look at the stepfather in this case. There is so much more to this they have not uncovered. The longer this goes on...the more I am leaning towards that scenario.

Hi everyone. I live in a small town called Festus that is about 45 mins south of St Louis, MO. I saw Kara's flyer up in Walmart a few weeks ago and stumbled upon the thread on here. I'm hopeing to get permission at my college to post some flyers as well.

As far as it seeming like the LE want nothing to do with searching for Kara, maybe that is the norm in small towns? From what I read on here, Belton is a small town, right? There is a missing pregnant woman from my small town(Under 10,000) named Amanda Jones. It seems like nothing is being done about finding her and there is credible circumstantial evidence on a POI. So, maybe it's a small town thing and people don't really get the help they need unless they have strings. I know that for fact to be true here.

Also, this is a bit off topic of Kara, but I was in McDonald's and saw a flyer for a missing girl/runaway named Jessica Adams. All it said was that she was from Arkansas and might be in Festus. Is there a thread about her that anyone knows about on here? Thanks so much. I think you all are doing a wonderful job here. Prayers and thoughts for Kara.

Also, I believe it was the poster Meezer(sp?) who described the area around Belton High. I'm sure the fact that there were apartments and houses etc around the high school irked others as well, besides me?

So, stepfather,EH,Kylr aside...maybe someone watched her and picked up her habits. Like maybe she went to smoke at certain times everyday. I know when I was in high school there were times when I was always with certain friends or alone depending on what time of day it was because of who was in my class, who wasn't etc. So, maybe this person saw she smoked alone at a certain time everyday, or she just so happened to be alone this time and they figured it was their time to strike.
