Can't find any info really on the other missing girls, except for the posters and they dont have any details on what they were wearing.
Me either

Oh, My! This wait is already unbearable. It doesn't seem like it should take this long to determine if this is Kara or not!

I can't believe this area wasn't already searched for Kara. Then again, did we ever see any extensive searches for Kara? This is so hard to take! Two miles from her high school!

If it is Kara and she is found wearing clothing other than what they said, imo, could only mean she made it home to change before she went missing. (And we ALL know what that means.)

We will have answers tomorrow or possibly Monday.

I will keep you in my prayers, Kara.

I was just going over some old interviews done with Kara's parents. I caught something which I hadn't noticed before. This was with NG.

GRACE: Jim, what were the circumstances surrounding Kara`s disappearance?

J. BECKFORD: Well, we didn`t have any surveillance tape or videotape, but, as a parent, we knew something was wrong. I called her cell phone right at about 3:00. She generally came home from school about 3:00. And it went to voicemail, and then Rhonda came in about 3:15. I asked her if she had heard from Kara. She said, "No," so I called her back, and again it went to voicemail. And after that, I mean, it was unlikely -- Kara has never, not once, returned a phone call, especially on the second time she would answer. I know he meant like Kelsey's case, but they did have the video from the school.

Jim was home shortly after the time Kara was supposed to be home. Where was he from the time Kara left school after getting her book at the office and until 3:15 pm?

I mean, she may have been some place where she didn`t want to come home or she was hanging out, but we knew she had to go to work. And we didn`t get that response the second time, so we went to the school to see, perhaps, if maybe her phone had been left at the school, and we had no way of finding that out, because it was a nice, sunny spring day, the first day after all -- nice day we`d had after all the rains and stuff. This sentence makes no sense at all. He is rambling. Why is a sunny, spring day a reason not to find out if her cell phone had been left at school?! WTF?! It could mean he is avoiding subconsciously discussing the cell phone because he might know where it was at the time and it is avoidance in order not to get caught in a lie. (We saw the same thing with Tina in Stiles' case recently.) Who is WE? Rhonda wasn't with him...see next sentence!

And I called Rhonda. And it was just a little after 3:30, to see if Kara had returned a call from the second call, and she said, "No." And Kara was supposed to be at work at 4:00 that afternoon, and so I went to her place of employment, Popeye`s, and got there about 3:50 and asked, "Have you saw or heard from Kara today?" And I spoke to the manager, and he said, "No." He said, "She`s supposed to be here at 4:00."

Well, we talked for a few minutes, and 4:00 came and went, and then it was after 4:00, and Kara had never called in or showed up for work. And I called Rhonda from the Popeye`s there and asked if we had heard anything else from Kara, and she said, "No." And so then we went back home and called -- notified the authorities, because it was highly unusual for Kara not to return our calls, not to get back in touch with us. Jim's account of HIS timeline is quite accurate, isn't it? This is actually abnormal for a person to do, imo. It is too detailed in his account. He has it down to the minute. And he is still saying, "We"...but Rhonda isn't with him. Who was with him?

Can't tell what the fabric of the top is, but the pants don't look athletic.

I wonder why Kara's mother and Jim are not anywhere on this site for Kara? No message from them at all. I find this so strange. So much keeps popping up which makes me question what is really going on there.

off to work and praying for Kara.

Perhaps I am reading into the clothing too much here. From the clothing described it does not sound anything like what Kara was last seen wearing. True she could have made it home to changed but wouldn't Kara's parents be able to identify the athletic clothes as Kara's? If it's not Kara it's somebody's child, probably someone with a case listed on this site, I am praying for Kara and her family today I have really been hoping that she is somewhere safe

Oh Gosh, I just found out about the UID. I'm so sick. I hope it isn't Kara, but if it is I hope they can easily figure out who did it (not likely, I know). Kara is in my prayers today.

I found Kara's stepfathers response odd in this article, you would think if your child had been missing and a body was found you would be asking for prayers or SOMETHING that it is NOT your daughter not total denial and detachment from the situation?

Surveyors working with MoDOT found a badly decomposed body near 71 Highway and Y Highway on Friday afternoon.

The body was found on the shoulder of the road in a heavily wooded area. The body had not been buried and was in plain sight.

Investigators said the body was so decomposed that age, sex, race and cause of death are not immediately known. The body was taken in for an autopsy and hope to have more information on Saturday.

Investigators are not saying if the body is that of missing Belton teen Kara Kopetsky. Kopetsky's step-father said police had not contacted them and he said he had no reason to believe the body was Kopetsky's. Belton police said there are two other teens missing in the Belton area and they are keeping those cases in mind as well.

I respect your opinion greeneyz but as much as I suspect the father, I do believe that denial and detchment are totally normal reactions to something like this (just my own personal experience).

  • #452
I agree that denial and detachment would be a normal reaction I have three boys who have done thier share of scaring the **** out of me by being gone for days at a time etc. and mentally you go into a "protection mode" for your own sanity and push aside any negative thoughts. I just meant in my post that IF he is involved his reaction would be telling of sorts...because obviously he would know where her body was so he would try to "downplay" the fact that it could be Kara...am I making sense? LOL, took my cold meds this morning so I am struggling here

It makes perfect sense to me, Greeneyz! I have often thought this is the reason they hedged on doing searches at all. They raise money, but never seem to be looking for Kara. The searches that have been done haven't been set up by the mother and stepfather, but by concerned friends and other relatives.

I personally think they believe she's a runaway, so that may be why they (the step-father) don't think the body is hers. I'm wondering if there are things that were going on in the family that we don't know about...which would lead the family to believe she ran away.

I sure hope the body is not Kara's, but whoever it is, they lost their life. :(

I have no doubt there are things that have and are going on in that family which would be reasons for a teenage daughter to run away, but I don't believe for a minute she did. Not this time, at least.

If you look at the school photos of Kara from the last few years, you can see a girl who changes dramatically. Not only in appearance, which is expected as she grows up and seeks her own identity, but you can see her entire demeaner change. What I see in her eyes is a sadness she can't hide behind her fabulous smile.

The stepfather was introduced into this family when she was 9 years old. I believe that is when she left her happy-go-lucky self behind.

Okay guys i am home. We will IMO know today if this is Kara. I am waiting by the computer all day.

About the clothes, they said they were found near the body but not on. So would it be possible that these are not the clothes of the person there. Sorry guys my mind is going so fast right now

Noon news today reported that they do know now that the body found is a female. They also stated they obtained dental records from Kara's family yesterday. They anticipate identification by mid-afternoon.

This was reported on channel 9 KMBC. I will try to find a link to it and post it. The report made is seem like they are focusing on Kara first for identification and then will move on from there depending on the outcome.

A prayer a minute!

I was wondering when you would get here.....

So we know it IS female. I have been crying all night, While I have already accepted the fact we may not find her alive I have also help on to the little hope she ran away. I know they havent said it is her, but I am thinking it is.....

I vow, as most of you probably will, that if this is her I will personally be on this guys 🤬🤬🤬 to the very end.
