The dental records would be enough for an announcement as long as they can match them. They would still do dna but those results would take awhile.

It's also driving me crazy. I just wish they'd announce something. I called one of the stations and they said they haven't heard a thing yet, but that they are "there." I'm not sure what "there" meant, but I'll make sure and watch at 5:00.

I'm glad you called, I've been sitting here thinking about calling somebody. Don't know who but I'm getting impatient. I kept checking the thread at 2 and 3 am knowing full well there'd be no news that late.

Unless the other stations break in with this information, it looks like KSHB is the only station that has a 5:00 news.

On that link they are now reporting another body found burned in Kansas City today. Still nothing new on Kara though.

Not that I've heard. I suspect that if they make an announcement, probably all the stations will cut in for this, at least I hope they do.

What has me wondering is how they ruled out so quickly it was not the other missing teen from a few weeks ago, but its taking so long to say whether its Kara or not?

On that link they are now reporting another body found burned in Kansas City today. Still nothing new on Kara though.

That's a really bad part of town. Lots of crime in that area. Probably a drug deal gone bad.

I don't know. You'd think if they have the dental records, and they knew it wasn't her, they would have announced that pretty quickly. I wonder if the teeth are missing, or there's some other issue.

It seems like they've made ID's before with only dental records, so I can't imagine what's going on...and why they're waiting for prelim DNA reports (if they are, but I thought I'd heard this on the news).

Preliminary testing could rule her out but not positively in. That does make me think they can't make an id by dental records.

ETA: I suppose they can't do fingerprints then either.

No news yet. All they are saying that it's a female, but they don't know if it's Kara. So the family has no answers as of yet. This is weird. You'd think the dental records would pretty much tell them if it's Kara.

They are hoping that DNA testing will be in later this evening.

Other than that, no other news.

Also on another note when we were trying to come up with other missing teens from the area we came up with one missing since 12/06 - searching last night trying to find info about her I came up with some recent activity called the Missing and Exploited children hotline, talked to a case worker and gave them the website they pulled it up and agreed it was her and was contacting local law enforcement. So hopefully that one will have a good ending.

Could be they are trying to get some quickly identifiable DNA from the body so that they will have a quick arrest, or at least a quick suspect. If it is Kara. Actually, I don't want it to be anyone!

Is there such a thing as quickly (or easily) identifiable DNA? I dunno!

Watching this I believe it IS her. This guy has been crying and he is holding back IMO
