''Kelle Ann Workman, 24, was last seen June 30, 1989, while mowing grass at Dogwood Cemetery, outside Pleasant Ridge Southern Baptist Church at Highways 14 and Z.
The cemetery is 13 miles northwest of Ava in Douglas County.''
'She lived with her parents, who were farmers, about 1.5 miles from the cemetery.
An uncle saw her mowing at 5:40 p.m.; her absence was noticed at about 6:15 p.m.''
''A week later, her body was found some 10 miles south of the cemetery and about six miles east of Oldfield, in Christian County.
An autopsy could not determine cause of death; she was not shot and apparently was not raped. Her body was fully clothed. The cause of death is listed as "homicidal violence."
“I don’t think this was a planned-out deal, other than they saw her and made a quick plan,” he says. “I feel rape was the motive … I think she was big and strong enough to fight them and they probably strangled her and then dumped her."
He said it was likely there was more than one assailant because Workman was strong.''
