''The Howell County Sheriff's Office and concerned citizens must continue to wait for the results of DNA analysis of two skeletal bodies that were found in the southern part of the county last summer. The remains were discovered on August 10 in the Lanton, Mo. area. The remains were found four miles from where two men, Ira Briscoe and Limon Little, had been living when they disappeared in December 2020. Briscoe's mother, Marilyn, and other concerned friends and family have remained vigilant in their search for the missing men and for answers to their disappearance.''

“Lt. (Torey) Thompson advised me the MSHP Crime Lab was experiencing some difficulty due to the degradation of the remains,” Sheriff Matt Roberts told the News on Feb. 21. “We have been in contact with the Crime Lab regarding the case but have not received any positive identification at this time.”

Ira Briscoe has been identified as of today. Here's hoping there is an ID shortly on the second set of remains found.

Forensic scientists have identified remains found in August of 2024 as a man reported missing from Howell County.

Investigators say the remains are Ira Lee Briscoe. He and his roommate, Limon Little, disappeared in December 2020. Other remains found near Briscoe’s have not been identified.

... The lab compared the remains and the sample collected from Ira’s parents, which resulted in a “99.9999999999% likelihood” that the remains belonged to the Briscoes’ biological child.

The rest of the discovered human remains have not yet been identified, according to HCSO, but they will be submitted to a private laboratory for additional DNA testing.

I am happy to see limon's roommate was identified. I find it ironic though that through all of this Limon has been largely forgotten in many ways and reduced to "his roommate", and now he is the one that remains unaccounted for. I do not see them not being able to finally say it is him, but we are still waiting to find out for sure.

I would thank Colton Wilson of the Sharp County Arkansas Sheriff's department and Deputy Dale Weaver of the Fulton County Sheriff's department for listening to people that the former Howell County Sheriff's department disregarded and having the tenacity to go out and find the site. Good work!

Until later!!
