Springfield police suspect foul play in the disappearance of a Springfield woman who was reported missing Monday.

Authorities in Springfield have made an arrest in connection to a woman who went missing from her Chicago Street residence on February 27th.

According to a news release from the Springfield police department, Jay Eugene Rothe, 65, of Springfield is being held on a 24 hour investigative hold for the murder of fifty three year-old Linda Riley.

The body of Linda Riley (see below) has been located, and a man is arrested in the case.

Authorities are investigating an arson fire that has destroyed accused murderer Jay Rothe's mobile home.

Fire Crews were called to the Country Squire Mobile Home and RV Park at Farm Road 112 (Norton Road) # 32 shortly before noon today (03-05-12.) Several animals inside the trailer were killed and a nearby trailer may have also been damaged.

DNA has been submitted although not too much other info.

I couldn't locate her in the Doe ntwk. anywhere.

mercifully they got DNA for this UID because they don't have anything else given the condition of her remains.

I wonder what makes the authorities believe she was kidnapped? I mean kidnapping is a very uncommon crime and even more uncommon among adults.

This would be near Springfield, MO. Thats not far from the Arkansas Stare line. I a,so noticed it mentioned the UID had dentures. They must be full plates, top and bottom because no information was entered in the dental chart.

Wow, looks like the article was just updated. So that was fast work on LE's part!! Awesome she has been identified.

The article is over a year old.

It is obvious that these remains are those of Linda Riley, but they still have both the MP case and the UID case in Namus.

The NamUs casefile indicates mtDNA available. And they have blood from the crime scene which they have said is her blood. They should be able to make a positive ID.

This is almost certain to be Linda Riley, so I am going to flag this thread Identified, even though they don't haven't closed the casefiles.

I don't know why it even got into Namus. he admitted killing Riley and then took them to the fire pit where he burned her body. they did not know they had a dead body until he led them to it so this was not a case where they found nameless remains.

I am wondering why it was entered into Namus as well. Is it because they needed DNA comparisons done? The info was entered in August last year, so, very strange!

have we gotten to the point now where LE can't or won't close out an unidentified file and a MP file without DNA when a man admits to murdering someone, providing the victim's name and details of the crime, and then take them to a place where the disposed of the body?
