If you are speechless.....oh boy. Not sure what I make of the protective suits either.

The protective suits are being used so that the investigators do not contaminate the scene with their own hairs and DNA.

I think it's smart investigating.

me too....

(LE also said that they issued the amber alert for 12 hours to give the case attention.....)

right...

but the article said that LE told them the suits were so the dogs couldn't smell the handlers

But Breann Rodriguez was 3, outside all alone on her bicycle/tricycle. She wasn't in bed, in her own home, 10 months old.

Unless there is someone known to the family who could have taken the child, this is not an abduction.

The home is rural, not in a location where a stranger would suddenly decide in the middle of the night, to steal the child. And this conveniently happened when ... when the father wasn't there?

I don't know why we want to protect parents, when they really are most often, the guilty parties.

I will apologize later, if I'm wrong.

Riley Fox then, for a child that went missing from a home. Shasta Groene, for a more rural area. Elizabeth Smart, for a child at night. Abductions can be spur-of-the-moment crimes, or they can be carefully cased and planned. They can happen in the city or in rural areas. They can happen to infants or teenagers, black or white. They can happen at all income levels. In my opinion, it's not protecting the parents to acknowledge that stranger abductions do happen.

The protective plastic suits are being worn to hide investigators' scents from the dogs.

If investigators have been inside the home and or car they may pickup the scent of her on their clothing,

I think they went the extra yard to be sure the dogs are only going to smell the scent directly related to her being out there.

ETA: it also keeps other scents to a minimum of the people near the dogs, like soaps and after shave.

Quote from Lisa--“He seen the guy act like he was going to go into a residence,” Parscale said, “but then my husband drove off so we’re thinking that maybe he was just doing that so that my husband would leave.”

**Parscale says her husband saw the man walking on a street perpendicular to North Lister, where Lisa Irwin lives with her parents and brothers.

UPDATE at 2:00 p.m. October 4 presser Capt. Steve Young speaking—Parents’ story has no holes. Looking into neighbor that possibly saw Lisa being carried by the male. No suspects other than neighbor sighting.
Tuesday October 4, 2011 approx. 7:00 p.m. amber alert cancelled. Lisa is considered a MISSING/ENDANGERED JUVENILE. Per police the alert has served it’s purpose. Police and dogs will search for a while into the night.

*** Tuesday night authorities searched a van and car at the home. There is no word on what police found or were looking for. Officers searching for the child focused on areas near the family's home such as railroad tracks near the north side of the Missouri River and a wooded area behind the home. http://www.fox4kc.com/news/wdaf-aut...rch-for-missing-baby-20111005,0,6273053.story

Wednesday October 5, 2011

9:00 a.m. press conference Capt. Steve Young speaking—basically no new information. Still searching with dogs, however there have been no hits. Parents not ruled out, but also not suspects. Very cooperative.

Next news conference sometime this afternoon.

2:00 news conference

Didn't someone post that this sighting had been ruled out?
I know it did not make much sense to me that this would be the abductor...but just checking...

How many hours have they been searching/looking forensically at the house now?

That is an awful long time to spend at any crime scene, but esp. one where in a stranger abduction you would expect the abductor to only have been there briefly.

The dogs. Hasn't LE said they didn't have any hits? If they were using only search/rescue dogs would they even hit if say a dead body was moved?

It kinda bothers me that Mom was out side alone yesterday. Kinda like she was isolating herself. I keep telling myself that I might do that to distance myself a bit and catch my breath. But I really don't know. Usually in traumatic situation you want someone around to hold onto if things get worse.

Lisa lived in Kansas City, MO which has a population of 450,000. It's definitely not rural. I doubt a stranger just woke up in the middle of the night and decided they were just going to go to a random house and kidnap the baby that's hopefully there. I'm sure whoever is responsible had this planned out, and maybe even knew that the father wouldn't be home.

I feel so helpless. I wish I were closer, Id help.. in some way.. Im praying for her, its all I can do.. (and a lil sleuthing on the side)

I feel bad for the neighbor that may have saw her.. I mean, who would think the baby is being kidnapped? Im sure he feels bad..

Im glad that LE checked all the RSO's in the area..
Lets hope someone leaves her in a safe spot today and calls LE. Leave her in a cart at the store.. something. safe. Its not too late to not hurt her. Please dont hurt this angel!

I read that, but I haven't come across a link so I can "prove" it.

Ya, they say 'possible' sighting.. but, I would think someone would come forward and say it was them, if they were walking w thier own child.. imo.. I know i would..

I was the one who said that. But, it was a talk show host -- who had been on vacation until today -- and she mentioned that it was ruled out only once and then in subsequent mentions of this case, she left that detail out. So, I'm not sure how accurate that statement was.

So, mom and dad are staying with relatives and the older 2 children are staying with neighbors? :waitasec:

That's how I read it.....

I guess the neighborhood is probably the safest place because of all of the LE, but, I would want my other children with me.

ETA Unless there was a reason that my kids were NOT safe if they were with me.....

I'm speechless.

I must say, I have followed a lot of searches, some with your expert guidance, and I have never seen this before. If you are speechless, I must deduce that this is not SOP from a SAR standpoint.

I would want mine with me also, but I bet Mom is losing it. She probably cant care for them in her state of mind.. Im sure shes breaking down.. I couldnt even imagine. They may want to protect the other kids from seeing all the upset..

About the investigator's searching the woods in suits...I wonder if the person who took the baby left something behind and they are trying to track their scent..?

The window...when you look at the close up of the window you can see a bit of blocks sticking out..with the window being so low and those rocks..it looks like it would be easy to climb in to me..There was a show i watched called "It takes a thief" I was amazed how quickly and agile that guy was getting in, if someone like him had experience breaking into house's that window would be easy to get in.

The yard sale..if they put a sign up or in the newspaper like i see often "baby girl clothes" and someone was looking for a baby girl, this could be how they found her. If it was a hot day the mother may have had Lisa's window and curtains open, which would explain how they knew which room she was in..or possibly someone asked to use the bathroom...

I just have a feeling the parent's have nothing to do with this, sounds like their story is solid. Putting that amber alert out like that makes me think so even more...

All MOO...
