So, mom and dad are staying with relatives and the older 2 children are staying with neighbors? :waitasec:

Could be a neighbor took the kids when the parents went down to the police station to answer questions. Since they weren't done until 10:30 pm, the kids might have been asleep, and they didn't want to wake them. Might have crashed at a relative's house because of beds.

Or it's shoddy reporting. I thought I had seen they were staying with a sibling (the kids and the parents), although I can't remember if it was a sibling of mom or dad. I can't seem to find that article now, so who knows?

But Breann Rodriguez was 3, outside all alone on her bicycle/tricycle. She wasn't in bed, in her own home, 10 months old.

Unless there is someone known to the family who could have taken the child, this is not an abduction.

The home is rural, not in a location where a stranger would suddenly decide in the middle of the night, to steal the child. And this conveniently happened when ... when the father wasn't there?

I don't know why we want to protect parents, when they really are most often, the guilty parties.

I will apologize later, if I'm wrong.

The reason we are protecting Lisa parents is because they have not been named suspects in her disappearance. We don't treat Lisa parents as the guilty party because it is against our terms of service as a victim friendly forum. And, because when lisa grows up and reads these threads, these types of words can be very hurtful to her even if apologies are given after the fact.

I'm pretty new here, could someone give some insight onto whether or not you've ever seen a case where the parents didn't have some sort of hinky situation? Not to say we know of anything hinky yet, but from the other cases I've followed it seems like there is always something that comes up that makes the family look suspicious.

Riley Fox then, for a child that went missing from a home. Shasta Groene, for a more rural area. Elizabeth Smart, for a child at night. Abductions can be spur-of-the-moment crimes, or they can be carefully cased and planned. They can happen in the city or in rural areas. They can happen to infants or teenagers, black or white. They can happen at all income levels. In my opinion, it's not protecting the parents to acknowledge that stranger abductions do happen.

It does happen. If this is an abduction, the mom may have been followed for a while.

I think I would rather have them go out of their way and maybe not follow Standard Operating procedures for most SAR, just to be on the safe side and protect the integrity of the scent for the dogs and the area than not....

I don't remember the Smart family as having anything "hinky"...but, it's been a while so I might not remember.

The family of a missing child will always look suspicious if the family were the last to have contact with him or her. Also, children meet their fate far more often at the hands of family than they do at the hands of strangers. The initial spotlight irrevocably falls upon the family, as it rightly should.

One article early yesterday told the names, but, yeah, other than that, I haven't seen them.

Possible danger to the rest of the family? Ransom note? Drug related?

I don't know...my mind wanders to all sorts of scenarios, but they mostly seem like they would be out of a movie......

I'm wondering if maybe the dad or mom were undercover for the cops...maybe they got someone in trouble..They do seem to be protecting them from something. This would explain why the put out that amber alert without all the info they usually require...thinking out loud here..

There are many! Post below your original has a few & Google has links to many others. We also have followed many cases on WS where the parents have nothing to do with the missing child.

And please take the time to read Terms of Service here at WS to understand why we take the lead from LE regarding persons of interest, suspects, etc., before "sleuthing" them & potentially destroying their lives.
