I keep thinking about Destiny Norton (SLC, Utah). She was found in her neighbors house just yards from her own house. So so sad :(

I have a couple of concerns that I don't think I've read yet. Just nagging at me. Why was baby in bed for the night in shorts and a top? It was mentioned that baby had a cold and a cough. I am just throwing this out...certainly not to paint any negative against mom...however, I am wondering if it is possible something happened to baby with cough medicine and mom panicked if she found baby "gone?" Perhaps afraid Dad would be furious that she may have given baby adult cough medicine? Again...just throwing this out because the shorts and top in bed with a ten month old kind of bothers me. Especially if baby had a cold. Colds always worsen at night and I just know with my children I would always bath them in fresh pj's at bedtime. Could be, however, baby fell asleep and mom knowing baby didn't want to wake up just put her to bed in clothing? However...that would mean no clean fresh diaper at bedtime. I always made sure diaper was fresh at bedtime as we all know babies wet during sleep to avoid a mess in morning and so baby can sleep more comfortably.
I am just having a hard time that anyone would have found way around home in dark to get baby...unless in home before. Just some thinking out loud here.

Baby Lisa wasn't sick as far as I know. Are you sure you're not confusing this case with Baby Aliayah?

We don't know that the clothing she was wearing wasn't pajamas, or that the baby didn't have a clean diaper or a bedtime bath. From all the photos that are available, it looks like this baby was well cared for and loved. I don't think those are fair conclusions.

I'd also like to add that it's possible the baby had a blanket on her..and the blanket was still in the crib (thus, wouldn't have been reported in the Amber Alert).

I agree with you and this is how I would have taken care of my children (nearly 30 yrs ago). My son & daughter in law raise their son differently. They insist the baby gets hot at night and only put him to bed in a t-shirt & diaper, summer & winter. He's 20 mos old now so I guess they've done ok, just differently ... lol.

As for what the parents are waiting for, I don't know. I just know it's not that unusual for couples these days to have a baby first and a wedding even months later. One couple I know will have a 16 month old baby when they marry next summer.

I have considered the baby getting sick from the medicine whether an allergic reaction or accidental overdose. From everything I've seen, this child was loved & well cared for. I think the mother would have called 911 if she found her child not breathing, etc, etc.

All JMHO and I've been wrong before. I'm praying Baby Lisa will be safely home in her crib very, very soon.

ETA2: Never mind...that particular scanner info is not related to Lisa's case (sorry for the confusion)!

:seeya:Thanks that was going to be my next question!
An easy hop onto I-29 and very little traffic, especially going away from the city, at that hour of the day.

The weather in KC's been warm lately -- it reached about 90 today and yesterday. Sure, at night it gets down to the 50s, maybe upper-40s, but I still think it's not unusual that Lisa was wearing shorts as PJs.

Thank you!! Most other mamas in my peer group (online & otherwise) are all for leaving the young-uns at babysitters, family residences, etc., for a break / date night w/ DH, etc., but I've never been able to do that. I panic at the thought of it... found WS when he was about 2 yrs old and have certainly never been able to leave him since! :innocent:

WELCOME FELLOW TENN. POSTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:great::seeya:

Officials said an infant matching her description was seen Wednesday with a middle-aged white male and white female in an older model SUV at the Love’s Travel Stop at the intersection of Interstate 29 and U.S. Highway 169. Their direction of travel was not known.

From http://www.newspressnow.com/localnews/29399595/detail.html

Yikes! I was just at that intersection about 30 minutes ago!!

I hope that it's her and she's safe!

It had been pretty hot that day I think. IDK if we know if the house had A/C or not, but I could see putting a LO to sleep in shorts and a tee. Heck, the summer pjs we have from Old Navy *are* shorts and a tee.

When I nannied, the baby refused to sleep in nothing but a diaper. As he got older, he only wanted to sleep in underware. He disliked sleeping in clothes.

Not the same thing as in the scanner thread...they are following Clay County....St. Joseph is in Buchanan County. I am originally from the KC area and moved to the St. Joe area about 3-4 years ago...shortly after Kelsey Smith....for those that remember her...she went to HS with my daughter....was too close to home so we moved out to the country. (Sorry got OT there....lol)

I read somewhere that the parents are doing a best guess on her weight as she has not had her 12 month check up yet as it is not due for another 6 weeks. Description from parents seem very observant parenting....bug bite, clothing details, birth mark...etc...

As the mother of 4 kids (and hubby and I were engaged for a long time and didn't get married until after we had 3 kids together...lol) I know how hectic night time routines can be....making sure homework (older kids) is done, dinner done, everyone bathed and ready for bed....giving medications if needed....I am not sure I would be able to tell you what clothes my kids had on at bedtime...something clean I know...lol! Also, my boys always slept in short sets that were PJ's....they are some hot sweaty boys when they sleep....I just made sure they were covered well.....going to look around and see what I can find on the Buchanan County info line.
