The missing cell phones bother me A LOT. Mom may not be smart enough to know that police can track her calls without the phone. Why would an intruder take the time to grab all the phones that were sitting, all together on the counter, in the kitchen? He/she would want to grab the baby and take off. The notion that the intruder wanted to prevent mom from making calls is ridiculous. The mom can run next door and bang on the door, and police would be notified. The intruder wouldn't gain any real time by taking the cell phones.

Maybe mom isn't that smart, and doesn't know that the records can be pulled up by LE. Who knows.

But, it almost seems like something a teenager would do, steal the cell phones. If that is the case could it be a young girl that was a friend of the family, or the dad even.:innocent:

If there was a call made from that phone at 2:30AM, and the phone was there, then the phone had to be disposed of between 2:30AM and the time the dad got home at 4AM. That's an hour and a half...not a long time for mom to leave the house, do something with the baby and come back home.

Lots of questions..and stuff that makes no sense.

Didn't I read that the mother got the boys and ran out in the yard. That she stopped a passing police car? Or did I dream that? Why was there a police car driving down the street at that time of the morning. I really haven't heard about a 911 call. ty

BBM: Not dreaming ... I read that also -- the mother stopped a police car ...

Hmmm ... how "lucky" can one get to have a "police car" passing on your street just about the time you need to call 9-1-1 ?

So, they must not have had a landline -- or would have called 9-1-1 from the landline ...

True how the LE were contacted really hasn't been said.

And in town, LE constantly roams the streets or at least they are supposed to.

By late afternoon Friday, the search had moved to the Irwin backyard.

Authorities were searching the backyard with metal detectors. There is no word on what investigators are looking for, specifically, with the detectors.

Wouldn't the ground show signs of being disturbed if something had been recently buried? Seems like they're still looking for phones, but this is odd. They keep circling back to the same things, over and over. What are they looking for?

I am going to try this again...I am new (returning after a 3 year break) so maybe my opinion is not as well received as others....but that is just what it is...my opinion. :)

Being from the KC area I can say this story is all over the place...many prayers and thoughts for Baby Lisa as well as the family.

My thoughts on the door being unlocked and the lights on.....when my husband worked the late shift and our kids were young I would occasionally leave the lights on and doors unlocked....perhaps Mom checked on Baby Lisa around 10:30 and then the 5/6 year old woke up or was having a hard time getting to sleep so she took him into her room....thinking she would get him to sleep and then go change laundry or do dishes or something....but because she had been taking care of an sick baby and was exhausted she simply fell asleep...not waking up again until hubby came home. Just a thought.

Additionally, what ever happened to the possible sighting at Love's Truck Stop here in St. Joseph? I have heard on campus that the clerk thought he recognized the child as being Lisa that was with the older couple....that when he spoke the name "Lisa" the child turned around and looked at him and started crying...he called this into the TIPS hotline and 3 hours later the local LE showed up and took the video surveillance tape and sent it to the KCMO LE to check out.....and we have heard nothing from there.

I am still on the fence with the parents...something is off somewhere but so far all I can come up with that can't be explained is that there is a 10 month old little girl missing.

My heart breaks for this family and child....will go back under my rock now and continue with my prayers.

Can children be interviewed by police without the parent's consent or presence?

Not positive but I think I read Early in the investigation that LE did interview them but I assume they Mom and Dad were with them

And No they can not interview them without Parents consent unless Parents have been formally Charged, (At Least in this county)

I am far from caught up, I'm 2 threads behind, so I'm sure this has already been mentioned.

Several people have questioned if Lisa had a cold got overdosed meds and they covered up her death. Which leads me to why? Who could that benefit?

Then it hit me, what if the boys were playing w/Lisa and she fell and hit her head or in some other way the boys accidentally killed Lisa. As a parent, you would do anything to protect your other two kids. You wouldn't want them to deal with the guilt of killing their baby sister, right? So maybe they covered up her death and think it'll be easier on the boys if their sister was kidnapped?

Quote from Lisa--“He seen the guy act like he was going to go into a residence,” Parscale said, “but then my husband drove off so we’re thinking that maybe he was just doing that so that my husband would leave.”

**Parscale says her husband saw the man walking on a street perpendicular to North Lister, where Lisa Irwin lives with her parents and brothers.

Tuesday October 4, 2011 3:30 a.m. (first report stated it was 4:00 a.m.) Father returns home from work and discovered baby missing from crib.

UPDATE at 2:00 p.m. October 4 presser Capt. Steve Young speaking—Parents’ story has no holes. Looking into neighbor that possibly saw Lisa being carried by the male. No suspects other than neighbor sighting.

Tuesday October 4, 2011 approx. 7:00 p.m. amber alert cancelled. Lisa is considered a MISSING/ENDANGERED JUVENILE. Per police the alert has served it’s purpose. Police and dogs will search for a while into the night.

*** Tuesday night authorities searched a van and car at the home. There is no word on what police found or were looking for. Officers searching for the child focused on areas near the family's home such as railroad tracks near the north side of the Missouri River and a wooded area behind the home. http://www.fox4kc.com/news/wdaf-aut...rch-for-missing-baby-20111005,0,6273053.story

Next news conference sometime this afternoon.

2:00 news conference—Jeremy spoke with Deborah (Bradley?) by his side. Begged for baby to be dropped off somewhere safe. The brothers are waiting to see their sister. Declined to take questions.

Again, Capt. Has no leads, not ruling out anything. 300 knocks and searches. 46 tips. No ransom note. Family is free to go where they would like. Family does not want to be at house.

**Alleged sighting of Lisa with a middle aged white male and female at a Love’s gas station in St. Joseph, MO I-29 and US HWY 169. Driving older model SUV. Article came out around 5:15 p.m. Surveillance video has been turned over to LE. Police say it doesn’t seem to be a major lead.

So, they must not have had a landline -- or would have called 9-1-1 from the landline ...

The story at the link DrFessel posted above says that the father called police at 4am-it's at the end of the story.

i am not sure if the timing was they were pulling up because of their 911 call or if not, they may have been already in the area because of the dumpster fire at the town houses (they are just around the corner from them).

The boys are old enough to know that something was amiss, don't you think? And I am sure they have been questioned. jmo
I'm not sure of that. Has it been reported (or leaked) that they've been questioned?

  • #276
Hold the phone, something just hit me. We're talking about a 10 month old, right? A SICK 10 month old? I don't know about anyone else's kids, but I can guarantee you my kid would have been screaming bloody murder if a) someone awoke her, ESPECIALLY if she wasn't feeling well and b) that someone was not a primary caretaker. Short of the intruder drugging the child, is mom claiming Lisa is so mild-mannered that she'd allow someone to take her out of the house without making a peep?

I had a little one sleep through a fire alarm in a hotel. Slept through the unbelievably loud noise, me picking her up, and rushing her into the bright lights of the hall and downstairs. Of course, other nights you could sneeze at the other end of the house and she'd wake up.

  • #277
  • #278
Not if they were asleep when it happened. If she did it alone, at the very least, that would mean she left them home unattended. If she did not do it, at the very least, means somebody had the most astronomical good luck possible.

I may have missed it but since you are from there what do you think happened?

  • #279
Just noodling a bit - the family never returned home after Lisa went missing. They went and stayed somewhere else. Had something happened to Lisa in the home at the hands of the parents, you'd think they'd return and try to hide things that LE might not have seen, or arrange things differently. If things did occur in that small window that we're looking at, that's not much time to go through the house.

  • #280

An hour and a half is plenty of time! But at this point I don't think the mother did anything to the baby herself. I think she knows something, and perhaps had a hand in what happened.
