Other two sons asleep in different bedrooms. (sons are half brothers to Lisa-the 6 year old is Debbie’s and the 8 year old is Jeremy’s from previous relationships.)—Correction. One son—the 6 year old was asleep with the mom and a stray kitten he had found earlier in the day.

Father is electrician that works nights. This night was the first night he EVER worked at night.—Jeremy http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/video/miss...olice-14688735

Monday October 3, 2011 10:00 p.m. Last seen in crib wearing purple shorts and purple shirt with white kittens on it.

**Possibly seen by Mr. Parscale (a man that lives in the area) according to his wife Lisa around 12:00 a.m. Tuesday wearing only a diaper being carried by a male. Quote from Lisa--“He seen the guy act like he was going to go into a residence,” Parscale said, “but then my husband drove off so we’re thinking that maybe he was just doing that so that my husband would leave.”

**Parscale says her husband saw the man walking on a street perpendicular to North Lister, where Lisa Irwin lives with her parents and brothers.

Tuesday October 4, 2011 3:30 a.m. (first report stated it was 4:00 a.m.) Father returns home from work and discovered baby missing from crib.

UPDATE at 2:00 p.m. October 4 presser Capt. Steve Young speaking—Parents’ story has no holes. Looking into neighbor that possibly saw Lisa being carried by the male. No suspects other than neighbor sighting.

Tuesday October 4, 2011 approx. 7:00 p.m. amber alert cancelled. Lisa is considered a MISSING/ENDANGERED JUVENILE. Per police the alert has served it’s purpose. Police and dogs will search for a while into the night.

*** Tuesday night authorities searched a van and car at the home. There is no word on what police found or were looking for. Officers searching for the child focused on areas near the family's home such as railroad tracks near the north side of the Missouri River and a wooded area behind the home. http://www.fox4kc.com/news/wdaf-aut...rch-for-missing-baby-20111005,0,6273053.story

Tuesday 9:25 p.m.

Mass exodus of police from the command center. Looks like K-9's are finished searching for the night. Police search will continue in AM
by cliffjudy via twitter 9:25 P

**family stayed with relatives after being questioned until 10:30 p.m.

Wednesday October 5, 2011

9:00 a.m. press conference Capt. Steve Young speaking—basically no new information. Still searching with dogs, however there have been no hits. Parents not ruled out, but also not suspects. Very cooperative.

Next news conference sometime this afternoon.

2:00 news conference—Jeremy spoke with Deborah (Bradley?) by his side. Begged for baby to be dropped off somewhere safe. The brothers are waiting to see their sister. Declined to take questions.

Again, Capt. Has no leads, not ruling out anything. 300 knocks and searches. 46 tips. No ransom note. Family is free to go where they would like. Family does not want to be at house.

**Alleged sighting of Lisa with a middle aged white male and female at a Love’s gas station in St. Joseph, MO I-29 and US HWY 169. Driving older model SUV. Article came out around 5:15 p.m. Surveillance video has been turned over to LE. Police say it doesn’t seem to be a major lead.

Thursday October 6, 2011

**Jeremy and Debbie provided LE with a list of 9 names of people that could be possible suspects.

Yes...but the FBI does not automatically go to every kidnapping no matter how tender of years the child is. I'm just wondering what the reason is that they were brought in. Feds don't have the money or manpower to just go anywhere they want. As well, LE are very protective of their jurisdictions and I just would love to know the reasoning behind it.

Well....maybe. It also could be perhaps because of a natural inclination on their part to direct attention away from the fact that they haven't any.

I agree! I'm baffled too!

  • #284
I agree. My daughter is 18 months old, but she is the size of a much younger child. She's only in 12 month clothes. (we're all tiny, but she was born early too on top of it.) Even she has her crib on the lowest setting.

I don't know that it means anything though because we don't know how it got to its current position. We don't know if someone raised it up to look around under it when they were searching, or what. I do know mom said she sleeps with her Gloworm at night and I don't see a Gloworm, so I assume a lot of things in the room aren't as they were before. MOO.

BBM I'm not familiar with all cribs, but the ones I have seen/used all had to be unscrewed in 4 places to be moved to a new position. I just can't see the LE going through all the effort to remove the bed slat and then put it back. I guess it's possible they took it apart and whoever came in and cleaned and remade the bed didn't realize that Lisa was 10 months old and put the bed at the higher position.

My kids are small and their mattress was moved down when they could pull up. 5 months or less

One thing that bothers me about the video of the mom - the one on ABC. The reporter asks the mom what LE said to her, and the mom replied that they told her that she killed her baby. She used the word "kill", without flinching. I would burst into tears if talking about that word and one of my children in the same sentence. And I'd collapse of the thought that my child may be dead and that LE was thinking that, too. It just seemed to roll off her tongue too easily. Please take my armchair analysis with a grain of salt - I'm just thinking out loud. We all react differently but it's something I noted.

ETA: I think it's this video: http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/video/inside-baby-lisas-home-14693905

From what I saw on Good Morning America, the mother herself stated the police told her she failed the polygraph and was being deceptive. they did not tell her what questions she failed. Both parents said they answered the same questions over and over and over for hours and then the cops started pushing her and saying they know she did it and she should admit it and tell them where Lisa is. Meantime, husband tells the cops they need a break, its too much. From there, LE starts saying they are not cooperating and creating big headlines in the town. On GMA, they said if they had anything more to add, or the police have other questions they will answer, they are just tired of answering all the same things and sitting there while LE basically accuses them of doing something with the baby.
I am paraphrasing the interview I watched. Maybe its on you tube or the GMa website, but I agree the husband is very reserved, I can see why it would be overwhelming to answer the same questions over and over and be accused. If they have a lawyer, I dont blame them. Not everyone can afford a lawyer, thats the sad part.

Media Deal, their child is missing, shouldn't they be out their with their hands and knees looking for their baby? What is wrong with people? I would be crying my eyes out and inconsolable.I would have my rumpus parked at the police station and they could take my blood if they wanted too, just find my baby.

Issues & observations I have with this photo that really make me feel like something happened other than an abduction...

1. Height of the crib mattress. You are supposed to lower a mattress to the lowest setting as soon as the baby is able to roll because once they can roll, they are not far from being able to grab on and pull up, potentially pulling over the crib rail. My niece did this at 4mo.

2. The foot of the crib (left side of the photo) appears to be raised even higher than the other end. If Lisa had a cold, it is possible that the mattress was raised at one end to assist Lisa with breathing better. We do this with my kids, but also have the crib mattress on the lowest setting. With it raised, she could have had an easier time pulling over the rail.

3. The crib bumper and quilt. If Lisa had a cold, she could possibly have been in a deeper sleep and could very well have rolled against the bumper or quilt and smothered against those items. I know people use them and I know many a child has survived having them in their crib, but they have always scared me. I know of too many older babies and smaller infants, who have suffocated due to fluffy bedding.

4. Did LE seriously not take the bedding and did they really place other contaminating items into the potential crime scene? I have no words!

It disturbed me too. I'm trying my best to give this mom every benefit of the doubt possible, but I'm starting to have a hard time.

I hope tomorrow, she'll go and talk with LE, as hard as it is. Lisa needs her to talk to LE, no matter what happened.

You don't have the urgency anymore to search for your baby when your accused by LE of doing something to her I suppose /sarcastic

I had Fox news on all day and this case was all over it.

I think Dr. Fessel means that they've never been personally interviewed on the main FOX channel.

  • #294
  • #295
I understand that. But a great many of them are older, or it's suspected to be a parent, etc. This is an apparent infant abduction from her home. I think that probably narrows the scope enough to warrant help from the FBI.

I guess you could be right, but IMO, having the FBI on the case isn't suspicious.

FBI an get involved in any kidnapping after 24 hours, or at least that is how I understand it.

  • #296

Yeah...I'm thinking that it is ABC now. But, right after it was said that they had signed a deal with a major news agency, I turned to Fox and it was on there every few minutes or so.

Here's a video of "inside baby Lisa's home" and it shows the crib looking just like it does in that photo..

http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/video/inside-baby-lisas-home-14693905

Ok, I have been on these parents side all the way so far, but this video concerns me.
1. crib mattress height
2. stuff in crib/looks like outgrown items, but why and when was it put there?
3. plastic and duct tape over window in reach of baby/unless it is from damaged window?
4. cords
5. drawers stacked/where is the dresser? how do you keep a 10 mth old from tossing this stuff?
6. shoes against wall like older child/again, how do you keep a 10 mth old from tossing and losing?
7. baby swing/isn't she too big for this?
I could probably put more but i'm behind and it may have been discussed already.

This doesn't look like a room that a 10 mth old currently uses? How was Lisa in here?

  • #298
I think LE has been searching pretty hard for 4 days...landfills, woods, etc...without having any info at all, they put out an Amber Alert, which is almost never done without a vehicle or a suspect description. I don't see why anyone would think they are only blaming and not looking, but not sure where else they are supposed to look, especially if they have learned things that keep bringing them back to the house, the woods and the yard.

  • #299

Good point. I have to sheepishly admit that I have no idea if that's the way our crib is or not. I just told my husband one day that we needed to lower it and *poof* - like magic - it was lower. I'll have to ask him if that's how ours is too.

A good recounting just posted of the recent controversy on CNN/Nancy Grace blog:

Missing Baby’s Parents Insist They Are Still Cooperating With Police

---
Irwin, the father of 10-month-old baby Lisa Irwin, tried to explain why he halted a police interview Thursday afternoon.
“I reached my boiling point…I said, ‘Guys, I can’t do this anymore today. I need a break. I can’t answer any more questions.’ Then we asked to leave and the next thing we knew was the press conference yesterday evening so it completely caught us by surprise.”
---
more at link above; if you've followed the case religiously last night and today, not much here we don't already know, but a very good catch-up for those a bit behind the curve
