MISSING: Mack Jones, 30. 5'8, 225 lbs. Last seen 8:30 AM July 2 near Bannister & Cleveland. He is well known in the local rap music community. His family has been unable to reach him and is worried. If you know where he is, call Missing Persons at 816-234-5136.

He was last known to be at an apartment complex. Someone thought they recognized him driving out of there. Now, on Friday, there’s no sign of him or the vehicle.

Jones had just came back from Los Angeles after performing at events as part of the BET Awards and he was coming home to a family.

The soon-to-be father and up-and-coming Kansas City rapper was last seen on Tuesday morning near 99th Street and Holmes. He was believed to be driving his gold Chevy Malibu with Missouri license DS2A7G.

‘He’s definitely in danger’: Family desperately looking for missing Kansas City rapper

The last call he reportedly made was to his fiancé, telling her he was headed home. They planned to go eat breakfast, but he never made it.

"Nobody in the family has heard from him. He has brothers he talks to daily and he sees on the daily. There has been no phone calls or anything," Jones' mother, AA, said.

The 30-year-old's car, a 2001 gold Chevy Malibu, is also missing.

The family made hundreds of flyers and posted them all around the city. They started in the area his cellphone last pinged from a tower, near 99th Street and Holmes Avenue.

The family said the phone has since been turned off, or is dead. All their searches and questions have so far led nowhere.

With his mother still grieving the tragic loss of her other son in 2017, AA said she’s desperate for answers, begging for someone to come forward with information.

The family of 30-year-old Mack Jones, who performs under the name Smacc Turner, said he was last seen in the area of Bannister Road and Cleveland Tuesday around 8:30 a.m.

Jones’ family told KCTV5 News that Jones said he told his wife he was running out on an errand and would be right back but never returned home. Family members said this was very usual and out of character for Jones.

The family spent time Thursday morning searching a wooded area near 98th and Holmes, where they said they got the last location ping from his phone from a tracking app.

"We can’t get any more locations from his phone," AA said.

The family contacted the Kansas City Police Department but said they were told he didn’t meet the criteria for officers to investigate yet.

"It’s very frustrating," said LS with the KC Freedom Project.

LS said police involvement is critical when trying to find a missing person.

"The longer it takes for someone to start investigating the more leads and tips that you’re going to go without," she said.

Police were called around 11:15 a.m. to investigate a report of a body found in the area. The caller reported seeing a vehicle parked behind an apartment and thought there was a deceased person inside.

The police said they are investigating this as a homicide.

AA said their last conversation was about his music.

"I would tell him to clean his room or something and he would start rapping about it," his mother said. "But he was going somewhere. He just got back from an event at the BET Awards.

Authorlee said Jones was a father to two step children and was expecting his first born this September.

"I just went through this. Now I gotta do it again not even two years later."

She lost another son to violence in November of 2017.

Too bad the KC police felt he didn’t “meet the criteria” for them to consider him missing. They might not have saved his life, but at least he wouldn’t have been decomposing in a car in 90+ degree heat for days.
