Southeast Missouri State students determined to solve 2006 Marshfield mystery

The driver, a Black man in his 40s, wasn't carrying identification at the time of his death and was initially identified as Charles Goudeau. After law enforcement had "no luck" contacting anyone who may have been related to the driver, his remains were cremated. After further investigation, his Social Security number on file at a local jail belonged to a white man in Texas under the same name.

It was widely believed that the man was concealing his real identity, which SEMO hopes to find by such methods as using fragments of teeth from cremation to determine where the teeth may have been forming earlier in the man's life.

"He had been in our community for some time and had a job as a bricklayer," Taylor said. "He had gone by this alias for many, many years. He was even arrested and booked under that alias."

Very interesting indeed! I can't wait to find out his true identity.

At the time of his escape, Eubanks was serving a life sentence for the November 1965 murder and attempted rape of 14-year-old Mary Ellen Deener. The university is partnering with @othram on this one, and it's not yet fully funded. Who is Webster County John Doe (2006)?
From cremains? wow! Or is there some other surviving evidence such as blood, hair or clothing? Because cremation destroys most organic matter and thus, DNA. Unless you’re lucky and find some solid teeth or longbones but modern crematories usually did a thorough job burning everything to shards

It will be interesting to see who this really was and what the reason for the alias. Coincidence, I know a mother and daughter that work for the same company as me who have the same last name as this man's alias. They have roots in Louisiana

It’s now fully funded!

Seeing as this man was booked under the Alias, there must be a photo of him out there. I sure wish we were able to see a photo of what he looked like.

I think we will find out he was a wanted man on the run. Without more info it’s hard to have any solid guesses.

Has it been made public just how many years he was using that Alias around town?

Was he booked under that name in Missouri? He went to jail under this name? For how long and what for? Did they not record his fingerprints?

@othram I’m keeping my eyes peeled. Can’t wait to eventually hear the good news on this one! 👀
