MO - Megan Meier, 13, Mentally Abused, Commits Suicide

  • #241
Don't know if this video has been posted yet. It is regarding the threats Ms. Drew is now getting :

http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/tech/2007/12/04/delacruz.cyberbully.cnn

What goes around comes around. I do not feel the least bit sorry for her. This is a consequence of her behavior. As I tell my own children " to every action there is a reaction, good or bad." I do feel sorry for Lori Drew's daughter but, from what I read she may very well turn out to be just like her mother. If I were the Drew's I would change my name and move far far away!!!!!

Interesting in that video that say that the only thing Megan's family can do now is file a civil suit.

They really should consider doing so.

Can someone please give a synopsis of the video for those who have blocked video while at work? Thanks.

Brief synopsis:

Websites like RottenNeighbor.com and Hits USA (??) have been posting the Drew's address, places of employment, etc.
The Drew's home has been vandalized.....shot with paintballs, a brick was thrown thru the window and they have been getting death threats. Lori Drew's business voice mail was also hacked into.

I have to wonder if someone else started that "Megan Had It Coming" blog in order to keep the hate growing against Lori Drew.

Mob justice can turn ugly, and real fast.

Eventually, I think they are going to have to at the very least move and quite possibly change their names.

As reported on the Today show this morning, Lori Drew's daughter has had to be removed from school and is being schooled at home. Lori Drew has had to fold her advertising business because people had been hounding her clients. Surely people in the area will not be chosing her husband as their realtor.

...... ..... she goes and does the very thing she was against? Her entire post reeks of irony.

As do some of the opinions on this thread. How a person can be upset at the bullying Drew did but okay with the bullying being done to Drew and her family is beyond my comprehension!

Good point.

I mean, don't get me wrong - something is seriously wrong with the Drew woman, but I am always fascinated at how so many people respond to violence and hatred with violence and hatred.......:waitasec: :waitasec:  Isn't it up to those of us who try not to be ruled by cruelty to respond differently?

With all due respect, SCM, there is a difference between what the Drew family is experiencing now (and I certainly do not condone the violence or the threats of any kind) and what Megan experienced.

Bullying victims like Megan do nothing to cause the bullying; she did not initiate the acts; she did not bring them about by her own decisions or choices in the situations, other than to continue what she thought was a relationship with a real teenage boy.

The Drew family, on the other hand, is experiencing the outrage of a community, that, while certainly out of bounds in some respects, is the result of their own actions and decisions. They should not be experiencing threats for their lives, but if the citizens of their community choose not to do business with them, that is a natural consequence, not a bullying act.

She could turn it all by apologizing and showing real remorse. But that's not in her.

Mob justice - not right. But - returning to her what she did - a phone call or so, negative emails, phone calls, etc. - she's getting a ton less than what she dealt out. And telling her clients that you wouldn't shop anywhere that would give money to her - that's everyone's right.

She killed a child - the girl was fragile, she knew it, exploited it, then pulled the trigger with the breakup - she intended to destroy her, and did. What she's getting now is scant payback. Not mob justice, not a lynch mob, but a community making it's outrage clear, with words and actions (such as a boycott that would have happened to any business who paid her money to advertise, had every business not dumped her the instant they knew who she was).

Calling the police to come to their house - wrong - but so funny!

Considering it is reported that she asked her victim's mother to stop speaking about the bullying, she really has shown little remorse and tremendous nerve. I do not condone bullying but I do support people pressuring businesses to stop working with her. Did we not call for the same thing of Bill O'Reilly after his insensitive Shawn Hornbeck comments? And his actions did not contribute to the death of a child.

I surely respect and get your point. I am no apologist for Ms. Drew who will, as we all will, reap what she sows.

I think a lot of people are interested in the "who deserved it because of their actions" way of looking at violence and brutality. But that way of looking at things doesn't interest me because it will never lead to the end of violence and brutality - something that interests me very much!

There will always be someone (or some group) who thinks the persecuted (whoever they may be at the time) bring such woes upon themselves. This will never change the fact that cruelty met with cruelty solves nothing and, in fact, perpetuates the chain of pain.

Unbelievable nerve. They were pounding on the victims door on Thanksgiving! trying to get them to come out and talk - just unbelievable that they'd think it OK to bother them on Thanksgiving. Then there's the meganhaditcoming site that is apparently hers, then there's a million statements where she expresses her total lack of remorse - she's pond scum - rancid pond scum. Something very wrong with that woman.
