MOUNT AYR, Iowa —
Friends of a missing Missouri woman with ties to Central Iowa came together Wednesday night to try to find her.
On Aug. 23, Melissa Chapman, 42, was last seen in Mount Ayr, which is southwest of Des Moines near the Missouri border.
Cellphone flashlights replaced candlelight as attendees rallied to find Chapman in Grant City, Missouri Wednesday.
Ringgold County authorities have found her vehicle and cell phone outside a storage unit in Mount Ayr. Friends said she was set to testify in an abuse case against a man she had been in a relationship with.
The man, Jeremiah Searles, was wanted for questioning in this case. He is in jail in Harrison County, Missouri, on unrelated charges.
