Found Deceased MO - Melissa Chapman, 42, Worth County, 23 Aug 2020 *Set to Testify in an Abuse Case*

MOUNT AYR, Iowa —

Friends of a missing Missouri woman with ties to Central Iowa came together Wednesday night to try to find her.

On Aug. 23, Melissa Chapman, 42, was last seen in Mount Ayr, which is southwest of Des Moines near the Missouri border.

Cellphone flashlights replaced candlelight as attendees rallied to find Chapman in Grant City, Missouri Wednesday.

Ringgold County authorities have found her vehicle and cell phone outside a storage unit in Mount Ayr. Friends said she was set to testify in an abuse case against a man she had been in a relationship with.

The man, Jeremiah Searles, was wanted for questioning in this case. He is in jail in Harrison County, Missouri, on unrelated charges.

According to a news release from Worth County Prosecuting Attorney Janet Wake Larison, the body of Melissa Chapman was located after authorities received a tip at about 5 p.m. Monday.

No. According to the article above, he was out on bond until earlier this month

from my understanding .. she was going to testify against him, and somehow he talked her into getting together before the court date .. to talk or catch up on not sure why. But as of now (Im very local) it does seem she went with him willing. Sounds like maybe once before she was going to leave him, but they made up ? I will update as I get info.
