MO MO - Melissa Peskey, 40, shot and killed, Boonville, 13 Dec 2018

  • #461
I have added some more cases to the above post for reference/statistical study, etc, as well as organized it chronologically/ Again, this is not to say that any are related to Melissa’s case.

It is truly incredible how often people are shot while driving / this was only a few recent search results:

Thanks, @margarita25. It really is something. Probably a lot more road rage these days, plus people shooting up their neighborhoods over drugs, gang stuff.

Does it seem to you like the Caitlyn Kaufman killer is one who preys on people mostly on interstate highways and major freeways? Caitlyn's case is so sad, she was such a bright young woman who was doing such important work as an RN.

Wow, I know where this is. Very shocking and random, such a tragedy. It does make you wonder if there are connections among these three shootings. I was just reading about the Caitlyn Kaufman case the other day. Aren't there still unsolved shootings like this in Colorado and also around Columbus, OH?
I don’t live but 10 or 15 miles from where the car and body were found. At one time reward money being offered was up to 75,000. But I can find absolutely no updates on the investigation.

How has it been 3 years and no arrest?

I suppose LE just doesn't have anything to work with. No real witnesses, no evidence to link the husband to the shooting. If the killer was a stranger, it makes the case that much more difficult to solve. Similar cases in the past have gone cold. You almost need a witness nearby at the time of the shooting who can describe the vehicle, maybe a description of the perp.

Very frustrating, I feel badly for her family and friends. RIP Melissa.

Someone has personally offered an additional $50k reward for any information by 3/31 with a post that says “This was not an accident!!” It makes me think they are close but need a little more info! All speculation unfortunately but it popped up on my FB feed today since I’m local to her hometown and wanted to give an update!

Thank you for that information! I hope they're close to making an arrest.

Those poor kids...like with Josh Powell, I would be very concerned for their well-being

This case popped in my head today. Coming up on 4 years and nothing new. :(

There must have been a tracking chip in the car or her phone. Everyone, take note. When running like this from a toxic relationship, get a burner phone and have a rental car if at all possible.

Does he still have the kids?

To this day, authorities have still not figured out who killed Peskey. There are still no suspects or persons of interest in this case.

But the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) says it’s still an active case and an open investigation.

Investigators believe the shooting was not an accident, but instead a targeted attack, saying that whoever pointed a gun at Peskey and pulled the trigger intended to do so.

Since that fateful night five years ago, 234 leads have come in, but fewer than 30 new leads have arrived in the last two-and-a-half years.

So sad.

All circumstantial evidence points one way. No DNA or video or GPS though to remove doubt. So frustrating...

Again, I'm extremely concerned for the kids as they might begin remembering things that are not convenient to their father.

How in the world is this not yet solved?
