flute, I hadn't thought of that...I mean, that since he was on duty he would find out via radio dispatch. Horrible.

It makes me feel sick to think that is how her husband learned of her death...this whole sordid event makes me sad and sick for him.
We’ve heard some awful things via radio traffic & known who it was; that was bad enough. But your spouse and this mess? Just unfathomable. I really feel for him.

Some facts...Ferguson is located within the crosshairs of STL City. It is all considered part of North St. Louis. On Dec. 1, 2018,
Four St. Louis police officers were indicted Thursday on federal charges claiming that three of them beat an undercover colleague during protests last year and all four then covered it up, federal prosecutors say.

The indictment also claims that several of the officers exchanged messages that “expressed disdain” for protesters and “excitement about using unjustified force against them and going undetected while doing so.”

This was a separate event from the Ferguson riots.

I support LEO, but I can say that while also admitting that there are some major problems with STLMPD. Some view the latest as just "another black eye" for an already scrutinized force. (no pun intended.)

This is literally the most nonsensical cover story that I’ve ever heard.

Two police officers, one on duty, playing “Reverse Russian Roulette.?!”

I don’t think so.

I want to see toxicology results on all of them. Maybe then I’ll be more open minded.

Double-tap on the "Like" button to your post, Massy.

RRR story is a hard no from this quarter, too.

Oh, but didn't you see the latest news re: tox results?

I'm not sure any of us will be seeing those.

JMO.

BBM: flute, IMO, the Reverse Russian is something the shooter and his partner made up. I've never heard of RRR. The Reverse Strip Russian is something I said sarcastically, but who knows in this crazy world? Maybe there really is such a thing.

I have heard of Russian Roulette. Whether it's actually a thing people play, I don't know, but I know someone who might....tagging @MassGuy to see if he can speak to your question.

I definitely think that Reverse Russian gar-bajhhh is a cover story, even if some people really do play Russian Roulette. JMO.

Russian Roulette has been around for many, many years. I knew of someone who was killed playing it.

Em. Wow. Just wow.

Were they under the influence of something when they played?

I “liked” your post but don’t really like it because that’s just awful.Their poor family.

Letter: St. Louis prosecutor criticizes investigation into officer's shooting

Just bringing this letter forward from the prosecutor expressing concerns r/t blood draw warrant not being honored for those who haven't seen it yet.

That letter is political CYA, just to make clear that she will not get any backblow from this mess.

The whole thing is a cluster, because the entire protocol regarding officer involved shooting was not followed. It would be interesting to review the administrative policy regarding officer involved shootings for St. Louis. Of note, this is the link to the documents for SLPD policies, and apparently, there is no protocol for drug and alcohol test results by officer who shoots someone.

Reading the various policies above is interesting reading.

I'm not so sure. The prosecutor has nothing to gain in helping STLPD cover up this mess. Losing this high profile case and seeing the patrolman walk free would likely end the prosecutor's career. JMO, the police department is trying to stonewall the prosecutor and grand jury. Sometimes city police departments are hierarchical organizations unto themselves. Sometimes they resist having the mayor, council and prosecutor's office telling them what to do.

Whatever the situation, the STLPD dodging the blood draws for the policemen is a very serious problem.

From what I've heard, the attorney retained by Ms. Alix's family is the top criminal attorney in the area. One way or another, he's going to find out what happened. I can't imagine the city prosecutor is wanting to be in the position of seeing the city on the hook for a multi-million dollar lawsuit.

ETA: Can someone explain why the St Louis U hospital refused to honor the search warrant for blood tests to be done on the officers? That seems really unusual. They're a private, non-profit hospital, IIRC, not owned by the city or county.

Perhaps they didn’t.

St. Louis Public Safety Director addresses shooting death of SLMPD officer

Incredibly, from the above article we get the following quote from the St. Louis Public Safety Director Jimmie Edwards:

When 5 On Your Side asked Edwards about drugs and alcohol being involved in the incident he said it’s a ‘bad assumption.’

For reals.

He said that.
Oh, cool.

So two on duty officers were hanging out with an off duty officer, and two of them just decided to play some “Reverse Russian Roulette.”

Sounds pretty standard to me. I prefer Scrabble, but to each his own.

Sounds like a completely sober thing to do. You win, great. You lose, you die.

Fun.

IMO, either this whole story is BS, or this was a drug induced, reckless accident.

I’m calling BS, but I’ll wait for toxicology.

Another great quote;

"There is not a social pattern of dysfunctionality in the St. Louis Police Department – most of them do their job well,’ Edwards said.

Most of them? Nice.

It would almost be easier to believe if substances were involved, at least for me.

(This is all conjecture, just trying to sort out my feelings)

Massy, what is it they say? "Not to be picky, but....

It was actually a game of Reverse Strip Russian Roulette they were playing, not RRR.
(*See post #220).

Since you mentioned it, I believe there are similar variations on Scrabble out there if you're interested. Wordplay: it's a dangerous game!
