If so, the family may want to include the Hospital in their civil suit.

The hospital has nothing to do with it. The police need a search warrant to obtain a blood sample since the needle is considered a serious intrusion into the body.

I am going to put this out there, without knowing anything, but my own experience...I wonder if Alix was a whistleblower or very honest and ethical. Honest, ethical people truly believe that public service is a calling, and can be put in a position of not being well liked by people who find their high ethics to be troublesome.

This may be why the police were not overly aggressive in a complete investigation, and actually minimized the situation to "accident", "mishandling a gun". And obstructed the blood draw. Just throwing out a theory.

I will say, I was lucky to work in an environment where people did not have lethal weapons. Otherwise, I might have been a victim of an "accident".

I'm not buying the Russian Roulette story.
This whole thing stinks of murder, corruption, and cover up.

Falcon, that's one of the (many) huge concerns many of us have right now r/t the handling of this case.

You may not have seen the recent articles outlining concerns the prosecutor has expressed regarding LE's handling of her office's request vis a vis search warrants to conduct a blood draw.

Here's a link to an article with the letter from the DA's office included in its entirety: Prosecutor questions police handling of 'Russian roulette' officer shooting | Daily Mail Online

I am confused about the whole communication mix-up b/t the prosecutor and LE. It's glaringly apparent that they do not play nicely with each other, which is unfortunate in this case. Can't we all just get along?

What is your take on the issue r/t no blood being drawn?

I agree that the shooting may have stemmed from a failure to see eye-to-eye regarding personal work ethics. There is so much more to this story. WhenI first heard of this shooting, my first impression was that there was either a planned romantic meet up scheduled at the apartment or there was previous romantic conflict between them. I just can’t get past her uniform description by the witness. (Rumor)

Found this article St. Louis Police to Face Tougher Drug Testing After Shootings

Article dated: July 24, 2018

St. Louis cops involved in shootings will now have to submit to drug and alcohol testing within three hours of the incidents.

The new rules, first reported by KMOV, cut the time down from the eight-hour window allowed under the previous policy.

For years, activists have pushed for tougher testing following police shootings.

They apply any time officers fire their guns, except for at a firing range. The policy also extends beyond shootings to any officer "involved in an incident/accident which results in the death or serious physical harm to an individual(s)."

Thanks for your <mod snip> and alert. The link to the information you snipped was posted on page 2 post #30
MO - Off-duty officer shot dead by on-duty officer at latter's St. Louis home, Jan 2019

The MSM link is
Criminal charges filed against officer in Katlyn Alix’s death

"...Hendren and his partner are 29-years-old and have been with the department for nearly two years, St. Louis Police Chief John Hayden said. ..."

*

HOWEVER, as usual, the MSM is slippery with facts, and Hellmeier may not be the partner and may not be the sergeant and may not be 29 years old. SO THANK YOU.

*
SHEESH* my upthread posts are illogical

*

NPR - PBS says that the partner has not been named:

Fatal End To An Alleged Game Of Russian Roulette For St. Louis Police Officer

"... Hendren's partner, who has not yet been named, was also present during the game, according to the statement. ..."

*

Per ABC News, Sgt Hellmeier, who wrote the probable cause statement, is actually an investigator from IA:

St. Louis police officer charged with killing fellow cop in Russian roulette-style shooting

"... The statement was provided by Sgt. Richard Hellmeier, an Internal Affairs investigator, after interviewing a third officer who was on-duty and with the two at the time of the shooting. The third officer has not been named...."

*

Maybe my brain is getting too old. I thought Hellmeier the Sgt was also the partner present at the scene. I wish the media would only add updates and not change articles.
WTH?

The relationship between the CA and the St. Louis Police Assoc. continues to get uglier. How nonproductive is this crap going on? IMO both sides are not doing anything to provide the citizens with quality protection. Politics is more important to them. What a sad state of affairs. Sickens me.

There is also a scathing media release from the STLPA. I haven't found a link to it other than FB and I'm pretty sure that's not allowed. I will keep looking.

Also, is anyone else concerned about the mental health of the shooter. He is on "house arrest". I am just hoping there is someone keeping an eye on him, ie suicide watch. Not so much for his sake, but for the truth to come out and justice be served.

Her uniform description?

Sorry - I meant to come back & edit this post but I got side tracked on another thread.

I meant to say “the witness’s description of her pants being disheveled (I guess) - not her uniform pants as she was not on duty.

I apologize.

ETA: I could have sworn that info was reported in MSM. I don’t know where else I would have read it. Weird but whateva lol

It seems like the STLPOA is trying to use this previous case as a distraction from the killing of Officer Alix. Two completely different cases, one had nothing to do with the other. This isn't helping their reputation, at all.

Maybe it's time to bring in the FBI.

He's not going to kill himself. He expects to get away with this.

Not aware there is a civil lawsuit.

Oh, don't worry....there will be several. Ultimately the taxpayers will pay for this.

Her uniform description?

It wasn’t reported in MSM that I can find, so I think that detail is off limits here.
BBM/JMO

If we are only going by what is reported in the MSM it seems unlikely we will find the complete truth in this matter. Previously posted a recap of the events around Post #200-202 but it seems that post has been deleted. This post did include a screen cap of the FB posting by Real STL News that suggested that KA's [clothes] 'weren't pulled up properly when other officers arrived after the 911 call went out.' In this same statement, the report also postulated that 'Allegedly [COC] and alcohol was found inside the home after a search began to piece the incident together.'

Now let us assume this is mostly unsubstantial hearsay. That said, this doesn't mean we ought to just wholly ignore this supposed witness account in our initial survey. The piece(s) one might want to look at closely is this: 1. other officers arrived after the 911 call went out 2. the home was searched.

Why have we not received any information about the discovery of the home search? Furthermore it is madness to me that they would release NH back to the home following being "bonded out by the police association". This seems very strange when coupled with the information from Post #6 via @Betty P

The neighbor, who didn't want her name used, said she went to the window and saw a male officer in uniform. He was speaking to someone, perhaps by phone or police radio, she said."We're at Dover and Colorado," he said, describing the nearest intersection to the home. Then he drove away quickly in a police car, the neighbor said. A short time later, many other officers showed up on Dover, the neighbor said.

An "officer in need of aid" call went out at 12:56 a.m., according to logs of St. Louis police calls. Such a call over police radios brings assistance from any nearby officers. That call was followed by an entry reporting it as a shooting about 10 minutes later, then a request for an evidence unit.

Why did they wait for 10 minutes before radioing that an officer had been shot?

The article also said the other two officers weren't injured, but one of them went to the hospital anyway and was checked in for unknown reasons.

Do understand that a signed warrant for a blood draw would have provided admissible evidence for the case - is it true the DA/CA's office was blocked from obtaining a warrant? or was the prosecutors office only misled by the FIU? Subsequently they now appear to be claiming this was 'in error'.

Seems like an odd error given the circumstances of a fellow officer shot to death in the chest at close range. There seems to be a lot of missing pieces here.

A fellow police officer was shot by another police officer (according to the probable cause statement(s) obtained by RH in addition to PR's statement that he and NH “consumed alcoholic beverages while on-duty”.) and the department is still worried that a needle is a serious intrusion to the body? But a .38 Special at close range is not?

So either the SLPD is completely incompetent in the administration of their 🤬🤬🤬 OR there is something more to this story. Seems unlikely that they would murder her over a few beers.

JMO.

STLPOA has been running a smear against Gardner for some time now. Now they're bringing Greitens into this. Also cited the four indictments over the undercover officer last November. Why are the bringing up on-going cases / investigations? Thought they weren't allowed to comment?

Throwing the kitchen sink at Gardner? How timely the PA decided to release this memo only 4 days after the KA/NH incident.
