We really don't have confirmation of what actually happened--only NH's version.

Is RRR a new courting game?

I couldn't read all of NH lawyer's statements. His accusations against the CA make me so angry. When someone knowingly points a gun at another person and pulls the trigger, it's NOT an accident. That's an intentional act.

BBM:

If it is, we're obviously looking at people interested in short-term relationship potential only.

I keep hearing the strains of "Hole-Hearted" by Extreme being sung in the background when I think of the RRR gaming scenario.

I did the timeline, somewhere I saw the reason for going out of their area was to have food. But I couldn't find the source.

Even if we take that out of the timeline, I still don't see how people go from having one beer to RRR game in 30 minutes or less. That makes no sense to me. Which is why I don't believe it. And it didn't seem like the initial judge believed that story either.

I don't know if this will go to a grand jury, or what will happen, but I think that the charges are too low. Isn't NH charged with something like "reckless" behavior? That seems ridiculous to me. You point a loaded weapon a someone and pull the trigger, that is intent.

So the mayor of St Louis claims that she is unhappy and that there would be a review. But that hasn't happened. And given the total silence from the Missouri Attorney General's office, it appears that the St Louis Police Chief is indeed accountable to no one. He runs a completely dysfunctional agency in a major city and no one can do anything about it. Good luck with that citizens of St. Louis. And it appears that even the State is powerless against this city employee. Pathetic.

Not much, Hayden is continuing to officially shield the investigation from criticism, esp from the CA

St. Louis Police Chief discusses his department’s investigation into Officer Alix’s death

Thanks for linking that article, Herc!

The video is worth watching.
Primarily for its comic value.

The Chief's statements are so utterly laughable. He oughtta' be in stand-up.

Highlights include but are certainly not limited to the following q&as:

Why didn't St. Louis call in the State Police to take over the investigation? The Metropolitan St. Louis Police Department is handling the case itself.

Chief Hayden says they've handled many police-involved shootings. They know what they're doing handling cases like this.

Was anyone was tracking the officer's locations so they would know who was patrolling where? Chief Hayden says they been having some technical problems with the GPS features in the computers because they are 10-years-old.

I'll give the man this, he had an answer for everything. I mean, the answers were completely lame and implausible, but at least he had them at the ready.

All of the above: JMO.

I just watched the video and, most definitely, Chief Hayden certainly does have well scripted answers for every question. I give the reporter credit for asking at least, even if he did receive “throw away” answers to his questions.

St. Louis police again.

St. Louis police officer accused of stealing suspect’s phone

A St. Louis police officer has been charged with theft after officials say he stole an arrestee’s cellphone.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that court records show 31-year-old Thomas Harger was charged Friday with misdemeanor theft.

Court records say he was caught on video taking a suspect’s phone from a booking counter on Jan. 21 and hiding it under paperwork. The documents say he could be seen on the video in other parts of the station with the stolen phone.

Well, in fairness to the officer, Chief Hayden did say in his most recent interview that they're having difficulty due to a lot of the department's technology being old/outdated, so there's that.

Let's give the officer the benefit of the doubt. He was probably just trying to save the SLPD the expense of buying him a new phone.

Yeah, probably just speculation from here. But if there is no food involved, it brings us back to the original question, which is why they all met up at his house? Oh yeah...to knock down a few beers and play with guns.
I'm with Falcon on this one.

He probably just wanted to be nice and charge it for her. And now he’s being charged!:D

That's just dumb. I read a news article couple years back that said many LE departments changed their standards to hire more recruits with military experience and with lower scores on intelligence tests. I thought it was a joke, but maybe it's true?

While we’re at it...

St. Louis officer charged with theft; more than 10 city officers now facing charges

Since the theft, the victim's phone has been turned off and thus cannot be located.

Harger had been with the department since September 2016. He was issued a summons to appear in court.

He was no longer with the department as of February 16.

[...]

Four officers are facing federal charges related to an incident in which an undercover officer was reportedly beaten and badly injured by fellow cops during the protests following the Jason Stockley verdict.

The three officers are also charged with conspiring to obstruct the investigation and Colletta is charged with giving false testimony about the incident in front of a grand jury.

Officer Kenneth Grooms is also facing federal charges in a separate incident in which he allegedly violated a suspect’s constitutional rights.

[...]

In January, officers Joseph Schmitt and William Olsten were charged by St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner after a man was shot outside a bar.

Why does this chief still have a job?

Why does this chief still have a job?

To be fair, the current police chief has been on the job for about a year. He was appointed on Dec 28, 2017 during very turbulent times. Is there a rebellion going on within the police force? IDK

It could be that he’s coming in and trying to clean it up, hence all the new cases against officers. I know of a city where that happened. But in that city the new chief was very open about what was going on. Doesn’t seem like this one is as much.

Am I correct? Is the cop who killed the other cop while playing RRR still employed with the department, while the cop who stole a suspect's phone was fired?

I believe officer Hendron (who shot Alix) is suspended without pay. And that officer that stole the phone in the other case is no longer with the SLMPD, but I don't know if he was fired or not. My guess is that he was also suspended without pay and that he just resigned. Typically with these types of public employees (PD, Fire Dept, etc) they cannot be fired without certain due process taking place first. Just having charges brought against them isn't enough.

@PrairieWind , is this at all "normal"? You'd think there would be some kind of protocol in situations like this that would require an outside investigation...
I'm beyond baffled, not to mention angry! Thanks for any insight you can provide!
