I could not find any records of proceedings for the court order for custody under the mother's name that is referenced in the linked article. https://www.courts.mo.gov/casenet/welcome.do

There were 2 family court cases from 2015 and 2019 related to child support (and subsequent increase in amount of support for that minor child (case no. 1516-MC14693-01 and 516-MC14693 ) but that matter seems to have been settled and there have been no updates to the case since 2019.

There was no other recent court history in the MiCourt system for Missouri.

UPDATE, 12:36 p.m. 1/28/26 - The Benton County Sheriff's Office says Remington Rose McLaughlin has been found safe. Tristan McLaughlin was transported to the Benton County Jail pending official filing
