The Blue Springs Police Department has an active arrest warrant for Samantha J. Thrasher for felony Assault 1st Degree relating to a May 20th shooting at a local hotel. During the incident, a 36-year-old male and 7-year-old child were shot. Thrasher is considered armed and very dangerous, so do not attempt to apprehend but call the local police if she is seen.

Blue Springs police are looking for Samantha J. Thrasher, who is charged in a hotel shooting that injured a 7-year-old girl and a man.

“She got into an argument with them. She left the hotel. She went to her vehicle and grabbed a gun and came back in and just started firing,” Blue Springs police Sgt. Keegan Hughes said.

The shooting happened at the Sure Stay Hotel near Missouri 7 Highway and Interstate 70 shortly before midnight on May 20.

“That’s one of our good hotels in this city. It’s not normal for us to have calls at this hotel or disturbances — let alone shootings,” Hughes said.

Thrasher is not in custody at this time, and detectives said Thrasher should be considered armed and dangerous. Police want you to call officers instead of approaching her yourself.

Apparently the suspect was on drugs and wanted a refund For her room. Sounds like a miracle it didn’t turn into a mass murder.

A 24-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, woman wanted in the shooting of a man and child at a Blue Springs hotel last month was arrested on Monday night, a police spokeswoman said.

Details of the arrest were not immediately available. However, Platte County jail records show that Samantha J. Thrasher was booked into the jail shortly after midnight and was being held on no bond.

The Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office charged Thrasher last week with two counts of first-degree assault and armed criminal action in the shooting that injured a 36-year-old man and a 7-year-old girl. The shooting occurred shortly before midnight on May 20 at the SureStay Plus Hotel at 701 N.W. South Outer Road.
