GUILTY MO - Shawn Hornbeck & Ben Ownby abducted by Michael Devlin, 2007

I am so worried about this little boy. I am praying for his safe return right along with you guys.

May all our prayers be answered quickly. This is so horrible and thinking about what this young boy may be going through is unbearable. Please let him be found safe and alive and the abductor caught.

No news yet??? I can't even begin to imagine what this boys parents are going through. And I DON'T want to let my brain even start to imagine what HE is going through----oh, please bring him home safely!!!! Please, let a miracle happen-----let him outsmart whoever it is that has him----let his kidnapper keel over with heart attack (or a karma attack)------something, anything. I have a boy this age.

TRex----That is a fabulous idea about the amber alerts and gas stations. Really smart thinking---I've never even heard that suggested before. It certainly would be well worth it. The cost would be gigantic, though---but there are many companies and corporations who would donate funds for the cause in an instant, even if only for the publicity......Ya know, you could really be on to something that would really make a difference....

Mabel---you're right about the motels, too. I've never even thought of it before, but the gas stations & motels are great ideas!

I just went on google news and read an update posted 14 minutes ago---it just doesn't sound good at all!!!

The school bus dropped him off a mere 500 yards from his house!

Plus, neighbors reported seeing that white truck driving around their neighborhood for HOURS on Monday.

This scares the sh*t out of me.

Yes I did read that, they said they seen a white truck that day and its a close knit community and things out of the ordinary stick out. Did I read it right and they said he actually disappeared the day before, which would have been Monday?

Yes. I think so. I watched some of Nancy Grace on Tuesday night. Nancy was talking with Ben's Uncle and Nancy mentioned something about it being a little over 24 hours that Ben has been missing. If I am correct, then young Ben has been missing since Monday afternoon. I always try to hold on to hope unless I learn otherwise; but, this looks grim. I am sick inside for this boy and his family.

I have been reading and racking my brains on how to help a couple of different people looking for missing loved ones that I had to take a break and play some games on here before. It rejuvenates me, just enough to keep on trying.

Oh man this does not sound good.
Sometimes when I read alot of these stories I get very upset and need to think of something different as well. Its very hard, I always feel so helpless when I hear something like this, I just pray.

I don't know what else we can do except pray, unless one of us lives close enough to help search, man phones, distribute flyers, or make meals and provide drinks and prayers for searchers and family. But, I live in Texas. So I can pray and hope. It hurts sometimes. I want to pray and hope and search, and help.

I know that feeling all to well. We have two woman by me who have vanished and I have wanted to help them search but my son was not in school yet and I have nobody to watch him. Sometimes you feel like your hands are tied. Really unless we live closer all we can do is pray, print our flyers and post them where we can.

No news on Ben in this morning's St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

"Search goes on for missing boy
By Stephen Deere
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCHBEAUFORT — The search for a missing boy entered its third day today, with the FBI assigning profilers to try to profile whoever might have snatched the boy.

And as William Ownby Sr. looked at the sketchy details of his son's disappearance, he seemed certain of just two things.

The 13-year-old boy wouldn't have climbed into a stranger's truck willingly."

Please, please, bring Ben home SAFE!

Not only is it upsetting that we live in a world where our kids aren't safe but it also upsets me that I know there is someone out there that knows who this pickup truck belongs to. Their friendship, family, or their own hides are more important to them than getting this innocent child back safe and sound with his parents.

I not only pray for Ben and his family but I pray that whoever knows who this person is will find it in their heart to come forward and possibly save this child's life or from being harmed.

I wish that the cable networks would have picked up on this story right away if it is a stranger abduction. If there is a chance that a parent or relative has abducted the boy, I'm not as concerned. Does anyone know? Either way, my thoughts and prayers are with the boy and his family.

nanandjim---I don't think they are thinking that a family member had anything to do with it. LE was quoted as saying they have no reason to believe that any family is involved.....I wish it was family, though, because that way there would be at least SOME assurance that he was fairly safe....

I don't know this isn't being broadcast all over the news. You know, that really pisses me off!!!! I mean, what in the hell could possibly be more important than something like this??? Where are the priorities????:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I have looked all over to find info about this boy and cant find anything! Not even on our news, it is sad that we cant report something like this every hour or something, atleast a ticker at the bottom of the screen.

Our local radio station has Fox News. They just mentioned this young man and that the FBI has become involved. Old news, I know, but at least they're making people aware now.

As far as a family abduction, I'm not sure if it would be any better. You'd like to think that a family member wouldn't do something to harm their child but lately there have been too many news stories of bio-moms and dads harming their kids.

Sorry to be so negative. I sincerely hope and pray that he's returned home safe and sound soon.

Fox News is talking about this every 10 minutes. They are keeping his photo out there and the story updated.

I heard this morning that they haven't ruled out "anything", which also makes me wonder if they are looking at the parents/family, too. I pray they have at least been ruled out and have been polygraphed! The uncle who seems to be the family spokesperson is a former cop and looks & sounds like a very nice man from a nice background and family, but you never know what goes on in families behind closed doors.

By all accounts, though, this child is from a wonderful two-parent family and there are no issues there at all, and he wasn't prone at all to running away or roaming, he is a homebody who loves his books and video games.

Dear Lord in Heaven, please let Ben escape his captors and be found safe. This story is just killing me, being the mother of young boys. 500 yards away from home is 5 football fields long, through supposedly a wooded area, someone could have hid anywhere in there. You are right that someone knows who owns this truck. I am desperate for good news in this one. please stay strong Ben and outsmart the evil one, with the Lord's help who has stolen you from your family. I am praying for you very much so.

I hope this boy is okay but I'm really afraid for him. A tracking chip would be great in a situation like this. He would have been found by now. Having the chip could be good or bad - depending on whether or not a person wants to be found or is hiding out for some reason. I'd like to have a chip implanted in my grandson just for this reason though. If he ever disappeared he could be tracked down in minutes.

I agree but the only downside to that is someone abducting your child for indecent purposes (as opposed to wanting to keep the child) would do it quickly and then kill the kid immediately after....leaving no time for a rescue and amber alert to be issued.
