What a nice smile. The daughter I gave up for adoption as a teen was adopted into a Hawaiian family (I met her when she turned 18). She's fluent in the language and lives in the Midwest. Sharing with her so she can get the word out in the local Hawaiian community.

How sad this is only being reported a year later but they have no details. Is his father better? Did he pass away? Where was he last seen? Nothing and that makes me sad to see. Poor guy!

Authorities in Missouri are searching for a Hawaii man who has been missing since November.

According to WDAF-TV in Kansas City, 32-year-old Stephen Maybir moved from Hawaii to the city of Independence more than a year ago to be with his father and uncle.

His family on Oahu didn’t know he was missing — until March.

"It's been so long and it's not like him to not stay in touch with us," said Sheree Maybir, Stephen’s sister.

“I didn’t want to alarm my mom just yet,” Sheree told WDAF-TV. “So I started going on Google, looking up his name.” That’s when Sheree found a missing persons report on her brother dated back to November.

She called Missouri police, who told her that her uncle notified authorities of Stephen’s disappearance on March 7.

Family pleads for help after Hawaii man goes missing in Missouri

Shocking news to just find out while on your computer one day!

I don't get this. He went missing from a family Thanksgiving gathering AFTER moving to MO from Hawaii and his Dad and Uncle with him don't report him missing until MARCH? This makes no sense. Here's an article about him as a teen, what a kind young man. Season of Giving - Maybir Family

They, the uncle and dad, did not inform the family in Hawaii that he was missing either. They had to find it out on Google! Something is stinking here!

Agreed, somethings very off.
had he moved out? Did dad recover? Was dad and uncle connected to the family in Hawaii?

This is really weird and it makes it suspicious that they reported him missing 4 months later

On may 11 there was a rumor posted that he had been found safe but no one could confirm, that’s the latest dated snippet I could find on this man so I’m of the belief he has not been found... the rumor troubles me though as one would only do this to distract from what may have happened to him..

This is such a head scratcher. He has not been seen since that Thanksgiving meal?

The father and the uncle didn't think to call his family in Hawaii to see if he came back to them and was safe?

He left without a note?

Did he have a cell phone? If so, where was the last ping?

Did he have a vehicle? If yes, is that missing, too?

This is a weird case. I did see that alleged report where he was safe, but his own family hasn't been told, from what I can see.

What made him move out to be with the Dad and uncle?

I asked independence mo pd to confirm after seeing rumor on fb. They never responded. So yes im still wondering if it was true or not. I beleive it was on a missing page. Would have to dig to see which one.

I just found a FB page, that I believe is his, with one selfie post on Jan 2, 2020. He says he is living in Davenport, Iowa:

Stephen Maybir

There were many comments from family and friends.

Good find!

I just can not fully believe it yet, as it is only one pic visible with not much interaction. If him, I wonder where he was the whole time and why he did not react when family was looking for him.
