"Beth Phillips, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced Friday that a Nevada, Mo., man pleaded guilty in federal court today to possessing child pornography and to illegally possessing several firearms.

Thomas E. Ruley, 59, of Nevada [MO], pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Richard E. Dorr this morning to the charges contained in a March 31, 2009, federal indictment. Ruley was a professor at Cottey College, an all-women's school in Nevada [MO] at the time of the offense...."

"The U.S. Attorney's Office said Ruley admitted that he was in possession of child pornography, which was discovered during a search of his home and computer equipment by law enforcement officers on July 4, 2008. Ruley admitted that some of the more than 600 images of child pornography involved a minor who was younger than 12 years of age, and portrayed sadistic or masochistic conduct....."

Just noticed that Ruley was sentenced late last year. Five years for possession of sadistic child porn? I don't think so. Haven't we decided that there's no such thing as "masochistic child porn". How could there be? Children can't give consent.
