Yep, I could've sworn I saw a post on her Tumblr about her selling drugs. Like, quote unquote "I was selling drugs."

She also talks about how she got in a relationship with her drug dealer and how it was awkward.

I think it has to do with that. Just my opinion, of course.
Wonder why she would think it awkward? Would be like hitting the jackpot for her. Widens the overdose thing.

How to solve Toni's case in two easy steps:

1. View Toni's cell phone records to see who she was communicating with on the 15th.
2. View those people's cell phone tower data to determine who was in North Kansas City at 4:40 Sunday morning.

That's your perp.

The mere fact that they were communicating with Toni is not going to be enough to subpoena cell phone records of others, JMO MOO. I think most judges would find it a privacy violation of the Fourth Amendment protection against unreasonable search and seizure.
(It should be noted that some courts have allowed cell phone location data to be accessible to LE without a warrant, but a court order is still needed - a lot of discretion is left to the judge)

I'm certainly no expert, but it is my understanding that LE currently has open access.

No warrant needed to get cell phone location: US court

edit: just to clarify regarding a court order...

From what I read, the only thing LE currently needs to get cell tower info is to prove they're LE. It's open season.

That case is precedent in the 4th Circuit as it was decided by the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals; MO is in the 8th Circuit. As far as I know, SCOTUS has not weighed in on this yet so there is no precedent in the 8th Circuit deciding the rule in the link you posted (yet...that I know of...). But like I said, it's the lower judge's discretion because there are cases out there especially in other courts and circuits allowing location data without a warrant and only a court order. Since those cases are not in or above the 8th Circuit, the rules decided in them are only persuasive and able to be raised and argued, they are not precedent that must be followed. To clarify the distinction simply, a court order would only require going to a judge and asking whereas a warrant or subpoena requires showing a reasonable probability that a crime occurred.

With the various circuit courts in agreement is seems unlikely that SCOTUS will rule on the matter.

The link I provided was just an example. For a very nice overview, see this source:
http://www.law.columbia.edu/sites/d...ant_-_wesley_cheng_-_august_2016_update_0.pdf

Keep in mind also, that you are talking about evidentiary value. It is up to the courts to decide whether the warrant was necessary IN HINDSIGHT. The fact is, LE already has their hands on the info for it to come up as an issue in court cases, right? As I said, it is my understanding that the cell phone companies just hand it over.

Use of cell tower data by LE is absolutely HUGE.

Options:

1) She's running from someone specific and told parents/friend
2) She's running and told no one
3) She was abducted/murdered by someone she knows
4) She was abducted/murdered by a stranger
5) Fatal accident
6) Scam

How facts apply:
1) This would explain parents and LE behavior so far
2) Makes "pulled over" text seem odd, especially if GPS was going to be disabled a few minutes later
3) Also possible, as a "planned" murder could account for the lack of evidence
4) Seems unlikely for a stranger to find and killer her in such a short time frame, with a police car nearby, and dispose of all evidence - especially since surveillance footage would be examined (regardless if whether LE tells us so)
5) Would have to have happened close to QT if it knocked out GPS - she would have been found
6) I assume the charges for involving LE in a scam would not be worth the 10K 🤬🤬🤬 jackpot, but people do stupid things for drugs. Pete Jr is said to have done worse for less.

Anything I missed?
I 'm still thinking #1 or #3, but wouldn't be shocked at #6.

"She's running from someone specific and told parents/friend" - It almost looks that way, doesn't it? I can't understand how the parents aren't doing more while LE is continually saying they have no idea what happened. How can they possibly be happy with that?

And I agree with you completely on your second #6. It's a peeve of mine how people get so focused on the gofundme. It's not for the gofundme! And yes, I'm looking with a very wary eye toward Jr. The thing is, if she made it home surely there would be evidence of that fact? Cell records and perhaps some surveillance video somewhere. She parked at a parking garage. They probably have video. I should look into this if I have time.

You missed suicide. Seems unlikely, but always possible.

I'm leaning toward (3). It just seems likely that whoever she was meeting in North Kansas City is the culprit.

Following up on the above...

Toni wrote on her airbnb:

"Parking can be a little tricky because of our downtown location. Street parking is all free after 6pm and before 7am on weekdays, and is free all weekend. If you need somewhere to park during the week, I highly suggest parking at KC's Garage between 8th and 9th street on Grand. This is where I park my car, and have had no problems, plus it's only $5 a day."

Checking out KC's on google it is a mighty sketchy looking garage and I see no sign of cameras. The much nicer place across the street has cameras. In any case, according to what she wrote, she could have parked on the street because it was Sunday.

Anyway, I'm sure her building had cameras or something. Wouldn't it? There was a key fob, so they probably log comings and goings. And of course, there's the cell phone data. Surely they would know if she went home.

Yes, I forgot suicide. Problem there is it doesn't seem like something she would work to conceal.

If she is running and parents/LE know, then there is little LE can do, other than a basic investigation into whether parents are covering up a homicide.

This reminds me of the Kelli Bordeaux case, where she just seemed to vanish. (I just looked and am shocked to see the case was solved almost three years ago - I thought she was still missing.) I'll look at old news reports to see how LE handled that case, in terms of reaching out to public.

OK, so the police in Bordeaux case were organizing public searches less than two weeks after she disappeared. What is different here? What does KC PD know?

I agree with all of this. I'd only say, because of the text she sent, add a specific possibility for fake/bad cop. My strongest opinion combines 1 or 2&3. I don't think she was running away specifically but that she was up to something and keeping it on the DL. And whatever short term plan she had didn't go as she wanted it to.

I am not partial to that short time window between QT and the incoming text (yet) and because of that, I think it's entirely possible she was planning on checking out for a bit - hours, days, whatever - and found herself in trouble. Jmo.

...and who is this Jared Morton gentleman that seems to have taken over point from Pete Jr.?

Just checking in ... still nothing ... sigh.

I'm still thinking she had an accident. :(

Kelly was seen leaving a bar with a known felon (who has since confessed to murdering her so she was thought to be a victim of a crime pretty quickly.

That's the direction I'm leaning. I think she may be in the river.

I am wondering if they had permission from the landlord to rent parts of the apartment out through Airbnb and whether they kept records of all those that rented the bedroom or couch. The bf(?) boasted of having his rent paid for 6 months if I remember correctly.

I am familiar with that area. To say parking is "tricky" is an understatement IMO. I lost track of how many parking tickets I got down there. Those tickets are not cheap either.

There are lots of ways her car could have ended up in the river. Reportedly they have been looking with sonar. I wonder how confident they are that it is not there? It seems to me that some of the gofundme money should be used to sonar the heck out of that river.

Long time reader, have only posted a couple of times. I lived in Wichita for 20 some odd years and worked in KC some. One thing that has been touched on but not this point. Maybe she was a CI, maybe this disappearance is linked to pending or filed charges and LE told her to "disappear" for a bit.
