I think the key here is that it was multiple blunt force trauma... in the probable cause it says that cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head but mom admits to hitting him on his body as well.

She would have to land a blow pretty hard in the right location to kill him immediately. This is just my nursing opinion but I am sure that he did not go quickly. It makes me absolutely sick...

And what is up with this "duct tape" mentioned? I can only imagine (for instance say you hit someone in the head and cause injury/bleeding to the breathing center.. the person can have what is called cheyenne stokes breathing... which typically would freak out anyone who has never seen it... if this is where the duct tape came into play I would expect to be seeing more charges in the future especially after the grand jury...I think at this time they are going on only her admissions and preliminary autopsy/COD)

Hats off to the investigators...

I am curious to know what it was at the house that led the Child Abuse-experienced investigator to immediately suspect child abuse (assuming it wasn't blood or other bodily excreminet/floods from little Tyler). Sounds like maybe it was the state of the environment itself? Curious...

I think it was blood. Blood in his crib and possibly marks on her hands.

He was so very precious.

I'm thinking of all the childless couples who would just love to have this little guy keep them from sleeping in. Why is adoption such a bad option for young people today?

Completely senseless....all of them are. It's just so incredibly sad. My heart breaks for Tyler and his family and friends. The men and woman in LE, I'm sure are devasted but should take time to congratulate themselves on a job well done.

I would also be willing to bet that if Tyler had not been found when he was and was still "missing" at this point that Shelby would not have confessed to a d@mn thing. The problem is she didn't hide him well enough to ensure that any and all evidence would have been to degraded to point to the person who had done this. He was found rather quickly and so close to the house. She really had no choice but to go ahead and confess.

Wow she really said that? Sounds like premeditation to me. Wonder if LE knows this.
Her FB didn't change for hours later. I'm SURE LE knows about it.

I am 99.9% sure that isn't true. She "liked" two different pages on Facebook. One of them was something like-- I will kill you if you wake me up. The second one something like-- I don't care how old you are, if you're rude to me I won't show you respect. They were two separate things, it was discussed earlier in the thread and I believe someone even had a screenshot from Facebook.

Headed down to my cousin's house for dinner & then to Tyler's vigil. If it becomes a Shelby love-fest, I will leave!

Prayers to all who loved Tyler & will be lost without him
Prayers to LE & the dog walkers who found the body

Keep in mind the second-degree charges are preliminary from the investigation finds so far! They indicated this investigation is far from over and they can and will amend the charges if the evidence is relevant. I truly believe there will be more charges. Child abuse, abandoning a corpse, etc...

St. Louis Crisis Nursery! I'm SO glad to see the media advertising the ever-loving heck out of that wonderful place!!! All parents need to know that service is readily available in the STL area with NO QUESTIONS asked. It's a safe haven for kids whose parents are in crisis.

That's awesome!! Every area should have one!! I think this is great!

The bottom line is that when you are an addict, there is NOTHING in this world more important than your drug of choice-NOTHING.

RIP Precious Tyler

And anyone or anything that stands between the addict and their drug of choice is the ENEMY.

Kind of off topic:

Now don't think I'm complaining I'm not! :)

But I had 5 kids. The first as a teenager and then the rest between ages 29-34.

I can honestly say without exaggeration that I went at least 9 years or maybe 10 years without a full night sleep with the younger 4. I really did. The only time I got a full nights sleep was when I went into the hospital to have another one. (I also changed diapers for 9 years---every day)

I don't understand striking a child period. Period. not on the butt either. I didn't and I don't but to each his own.

But to beat a child in the head? Because it won't go to sleep? Good lord is all I can say.

All JMHO

OT but this always makes me wonder why are children aren't mature at that age now, when 50 years ago (or so) it was the norm to have children at 15. Ya know. My grandmother started having kids that early.

IMO its because their parents don't make them grow up or make them take responsiblity for their actions. Mommy or Daddy will take care of it. They'll get Junior out of whatever mess s/he managed to get her/himself into. And s/he never has to own up to it

I have a friend here at work who is crying right now. She has been trying to have a baby for over 10 years. She has a steady job and a loving husband; but has been unable to conceive. She is crying over a woman (Shelby) who had the most precious gift that my friend so desperately wants and Shelby literally through away that gift.

I can't seem to find her page?

It's still there, but everything on the wall has been erased. Not much to see anymore... but under info you can still see the pages she liked. You have to put her entire name in, including her middle name Ann, for it to come up.
