MO - Woman escapes from Excelsior Springs house, says she's been held against her will since September 2022

My thinking was less about him and more about his son. School is Mon-Fri. Hence me thinking he didn't do "stuff" in the basement Mon-Fri, which is why he moved his truck to block the basement Fri night, then moved his truck back to the street on Monday. Perhaps that's when his son was with his mother.
Perhaps he removed things on the weekend that he was careful not to have seen.

That's what I was thinking too.

A restraining order was filed. It looks like TH filed against his exwife. Maybe a legal pro can tell us more. I X'd out her name for privacy.

Interestingly, the ex-wife's attorney is the same attorney for the landlord.

IANAL, but it looks to me like the ex-wife is filing a restraining order against THJr, as follow up to an existing case (where he is the petitioner and she is the respondent) in family court.

That's what I was thinking although I most certainly could be wrong. I just could not fathom that what is potentially a serial killer (MOO) could be the one asking for protection from his ex-wife. Although stranger things in life happen all the time.

I Goog'ed for it and came up with:

Either Petitioner or Respondent may ask for temporary orders.

I wonder when we will get more information on this case.

This case has gone quiet. Hope that’s a sign the police are working hard behind the scenes.

Oddly, neither of those articles discusses his eviction. I'd love to read more about that.

There was an eviction petition filed by his landlord to the courts, it was posted in this thread somewhere. It was just a paperwork issue and may not have even been processed yet.

I can't read the link as I'm in the UK but assume it's simply a matter of the court approving the application - ie an administrative task.

Looks like the eviction is complete -- but the order was returned to the court -- somehow, someone didn't know Mr Haslett is a guest of the County???

There is a judgement.

Might need to enter Mr. Haslett's name in the Litigant Name boxes.

Decades ago, my great-uncle would bless Thanksgiving dinner. Among other things, he would give thanks that no member of our family was a guest of the county or the state on this occasion.

Years later, my Dad explained that Uncle Ed meant that no one was in jail!

WWII vet, Uncle Ed was a memorable person to a small Laughing.

I hope so.
If indeed he is tied to other cases I wonder how it would be until we find out. Or rather the news breaks.

do we know of any relation of the landlords to the ex? I ask because I have known a family where the landlord was an ex inlaw who let the ex daughter in law rent the house cheaply so the grandchild had a place to be

IDK

There are 2 Rent & Possession cases -- collection action:

WHISPERING LAKE LIMITED PARTNERSHIP V TIM HASLETT and KIM SANSON ET AL V TIMOTHY HASLETT

These are the 2 plaintiffs, both prevailed.

No idea of the Sansons are related?

I just started following this case today. I see the case you're referring to re: Whispering Lake on the https://www.courts.mo.gov/casenet/ site but it's from 12 years ago.

My guess is, it's not related, but the Sansons filed on 10.18 for immediate eviction based on the emergency statute they stated in their filing.

RMSO-441.740 "Immediate eviction ordered/immediate removal ordered, when. — 1. The court shall, subject to the provisions of section 441.880, order the immediate eviction of a tenant as set forth in section 441.770, if it finds any of the following: any person who engages in criminal activity described in this section on or in the immediate vicinity of the leased property. Persons removed from the leased premises pursuant to this section shall be immediately barred from entering onto or remaining on any portion of the leased property." from here 441.740 (edited to remove the additional provisions that don't apply)

And good for them. At the very minimum, this "suspect" (I'd like to use another word but, TOS) has caused great trauma, damage and hardship in several directions. From the young lady he held and assaulted, to his own child who lived in the home part time, his own extended family, the landlord's family and pretty much anyone who's ever known or associated with him.

New Article

A 22-year-old Black woman in Missouri who escaped after a white man abducted, tortured and held her captive for weeks in a basement has said several other Black women were killed by her captor

Snip>>>

Excelsior Springs police are now investigating the possibility that at least two-more women were similarly victimized.

I’m a bit far behind reading but I’m getting dejavu with this one. Are we going to end up with another situation like Canada where the police refused to admit there was a SK in the LGBTQ community? IMO
