MO MO - Yasmin Rodriguez, 24, (fnd deceased) & Gebar Byrd, 2, (still missing), University City, 22 Mar 2010 *GUILTY*

Two different addresses come up for him in a background check - one on Monroe in St. Louis, MO and one on Louisiana Ave. in the county of St. Louis City (different zips)

He gives no names for reference on either one, no phone #'s, no info at all. Maybe relatives are living in one of the residences?

He's doing a great job of making himself look guilty. Just my opinion.

  • #43
I'm also beginning to wonder if he might be new to this country.

Who else would say - now that the mother of my child is out of the way???

Yeah, that was a terrible word choice. There are about a million other ways that could've been worded better.

Missouri Mom's Body identified; Son's Fate Unknown

The search for a suburban St. Louis boy is growing more urgent after authorities identified his mother's remains.

Twenty-four-year-old Yasmin Rodriguez was last seen leaving her University City home with her son, Gebar Byrd Jr., after quarreling with the tot's father.

But that's been nearly a month ago, and still there is no sign of Gebar. His second birthday was Tuesday.

Byrd believes the Rodriguez family has his son. "I believe they do have custody of my son even if they are moving him around."

However, the Rodriguez family alleges Byrd has something to do with the boy's disappearance. http://ozarksfirst.com/content/fulltext/?cid=255552

I tend to agree with the Rodriguez family. On the other hand, I HOPE Byrd is right.

Search continues for missing 2-year-old boy

Family members are asking tough questions regarding the search for their 2-year-old grandson and the investigation surrounding their daughter, Jasmin Rodriguez.

[snip]

Police say they are working with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and say information about the two was not made public sooner because there was no evidence of a crime.

Investigators are still waiting for autopsy results to find out how Jasmin died. The focus now turns to finding Gebar.

Police say this doesn't fit the criteria for an Amber Alert - no one witnessed the abduction. There are no suspects in the case, and Gebar's father is cooperating with the investigation.

Missing boy's father pleads for son's return

Posted on April 17, 2010 at 5:08 PM

The father of a missing University City toddler made a public plea Saturday for the boy's return.

Gebar Byrd Sr. met with reporters this afternoon and pleaded for the return of his son. Byrd says he last saw his son, Gebar Byrd Jr. and his fiance, 24-year-old Yasmin Rodriguez, on March 25th.

Byrd told police an argument between him and Rodriguez ended with him leaving the the house. When he returned, the boy and his mother were gone.
"I really do want to make sure that I'm able to get in contact with my son cause he does need to be with his father now that his mother is out of the way," Byrd told reporters. "...I do believe there was some foul play involved...I'm not sure what type but someone came and picked them up...I'm not sure what happened that's all I know..."

While Rodriguez's family has accused him of being involved with the boy's disappearance, Byrd says has has already taken and passed three polygarph tests.

Police search for child after mom's body identified
By Patrick M. O'Connell and Greg Jonsson
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
04/17/2010

Snipped .................................................

St. Louis police said it is unclear how her body ended up in the river. Investigators found no obvious signs of trauma. The medical examiner's office has not determined a cause of death because autopsy results still are pending.

Family members reported Rodriguez and Gebar missing on March 28. They became concerned several days earlier when Rodriguez stopped text messaging her sister and didn't stop by the family home with her son over the weekend. Worries grew when Rodriguez didn't call her mother for her April 1 birthday.

Rodriguez's family said the seven-year relationship between Rodriguez and the boy's father, Gebar Byrd Sr., was tumultuous. Guadalupe Rodriguez said Byrd was physically abusive, citing one time last year when she said he seriously injured Yasmin Rodriguez in a beating. Police were called, but Rodriguez didn't press charges, her sister said.

Where is the URGENCY to find this child?!?!! Where are the searches? Where is the media? Where is the rush on the AUTOPSY RESULTS?

This is a toddler that is missing after his mother was found DEAD! And I'm just not seeing any urgency to find him.

Update: Police search Mississippi River for missing boy

Police searched the waters of the Mississippi River on Tuesday in hopes of finding a lead in the case of missing 2-year-old Gebar Bryd Jr. Bryd's mother's body was found in the river, and police were led to search the waters for the boy, too.

Old article, with a paragraph of update. WHERE IS THE AUTOPSY?! Is a dead mother and missing child not enough to put a rush on it???

Is anyone searching for Gebar Byrd Jr.

It's been 31 days since Gebar Byrd Jr. went missing. Investigators pulled his mother's body out of the Mississippi River on April 9th. Days and hours have passed and still no signs of Gebar. The news of Gebar's disappearance has faded into the background. Police have not publicly stated any significant leads in Gebar's case, nor have there been any arrest in the death of Gebar's mother Yasmin Rodriguez.
