I'm speculating here, but because the assassination of Bin Laden was an operation by our military, the military controlled the footage. That wasn't the case with Hussein or Gaddafi.It was simply a matter of who had the tape.

OK. That makes sense. Thinking farther here, the killing of SH and MG footage came from the Arab world, correct? CNN just picked it up. (That's where I saw it).

Although I do remember when OBL was killed, there was word that we didn't want to 'inflame the Arab nations' or something like that. Which, doesn't make sense to me, since all 3 of these killings could do that.

Ramming planes full of innocent people into buildings full of innocent people inflamed me. Putting a bomb on a 747 full of innocent people inflamed me. They went first. That's what you get.

Hussein and Gaddafi were despotic leaders of individual countries. They were largely hated and feared.

But even so, as I recall it, there was considerable concern about the Hussein video.

Bin Lad was also hated by some, but to others he was a symbolic figure in the struggle against the West and its values, the prime jihadist, so to speak. There just wasn't any reason to give crazy terrorists another reason to strike back against us.

Also IIRC, film of the execution of Timothy McVeigh was never broadcast. Probably for the same reason.
