Carr was found deceased in the southbound lane of Marathon Road, west of Klam Road, in Lapeer County’s Oregon Township.

Police responded to the scene and found his body after a passing motorist on their way to work called 911 to report seeing a man in the roadway.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene after life-saving measures were attempted.

Police said Carr’s injuries and the scene – absent of any evidence of a vehicle being involved in his death – called the situation into question.

An autopsy determined his cause of death was an injury to a vital organ, but there were no broken bones or other characteristics common with pedestrians being struck by a vehicle.

Using a breakdown of witness statements and surveillance video, police have narrowed the time of Carr’s death to somewhere between 12:28-1:36 a.m. on May 4, 2024

“There were no skid marks. There was no debris from a vehicle like you normally find at a crash scene. No plastic from lights or other parts, no nothing,” Parks told The County Press in late May.

Autopsy results indicated cause of death was injury of a vital organ (liver). “His body was intact. He had no broken bones, there was no blood. The injury pattern is not consistent with a vehicle collision,” said Parks.

“That’s why we’re calling this a suspicious death. That’s how we’re investigating it,” said Parks in May.
