Search on for accused child rapist who allegedly faked his own death in Gulf of Mexico

"Authorities believe Jacob Blair Scott, 42, may be hiding out in Denver where his family lives.

Scott is facing 14 sex charges in connection with the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl in Pascagoula, Miss. He had been out on bond awaiting trial before he disappeared in Orange Beach, Alabama just days before he was set to plead guilty in the case, the news outlet reported.

Authorities located a dinghy floating in the ocean and a gun tied to the boat along with a suicide note listing contact information for Scott’s family.

Why did the state allow a rapist to be out on bond when he agreed to plead guilty? Why would bail be available to child rapists? Or any rapist?

Because, sadly, rape isn't taken seriously enough so the laws against rape are much too lenient IMO.

Man Accused of Faking Suicide to Avoid Jail for Child Rape Added to
U.S. Marshals 15 Most Wanted Fugitive List

Reward of up to $25,000 offered for information directly leading to his arrest

Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Marshals today elevated the fugitive status of a Mississippi man who allegedly faked his own death to avoid prosecution for raping his 14-year-old stepdaughter.

Jacob Blair Scott, 43, is now a Marshals’ 15 Most Wanted fugitive, and authorities are asking the public for information that could lead to his arrest.

“Jacob Scott stands accused of unspeakable crimes against a child,” said U.S. Marshals Service Director Donald Washington. “The Marshals will leave no stone unturned until we bring him to justice.”

Scott faces a 14-count indictment charging him with sexual battery, touching a child for lustful purposes, and exploitation of a child. He was out on bond, but had failed to appear for a scheduled court hearing, when investigators found his abandoned dinghy off the coast of Orange Beach, Alabama, in July 2018. During their search of Scott’s vessel, authorities found a gun and a note, but little forensic evidence indicating a suicide. A week-long search of the Gulf of Mexico was conducted for Scott’s body, but his remains were never found. Authorities later discovered Scott had withdrawn $45,000 from a bank account before his disappearance. The money was never recovered.

Scott is a 5-foot-10 white male weighing approximately 225 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He is a survivalist and a military veteran who received a Purple Heart in 2011 for injuries he sustained while deployed in Iraq. His military background and knowledge of the outdoors may enable him to live off the grid. His unique physical characteristics include tattoos of a machete knife, scorpion, and a compass with feathers. There have been reported possible sightings of Scott in Mississippi, Colorado, Nevada, and Louisiana.

U.S. Marshals offer a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading directly to his arrest. Anyone with information should notify the agency at the nearest U.S. Marshals office, the Communications Center at 1-877-WANTED-2, online via the web, or an app at www.usmarshals.gov/tips.

Great job at Chevron. Money from the VA, and who knows what else?

Yeah that'll keep him put.

Poor 14 year old pregnant by a monster. Not to mention her distraught and terrified parents. Prayers for this young lady. Big time prayers they catch the sob.

I wonder when they do catch him and convict him can they strip you of your medals?

‘Betrayed.’ An alleged Coast child rapist went on the run with his friend’s identity

Jacob Blair Scott was using the name of a friend and former co-worker at Chevron’s Pascagoula refinery after he reportedly Faked his own death and went on the run.

Most-wanted fugitive accused faking his death returns to Jackson County courtroom

Scott, 43, was in a yellow jail jumpsuit when he was escorted by deputies into Judge Kathy King Jackson’s courtroom on Wednesday to face 14 felony charges.

The judge had issued a warrant for Scott’s arrest in August 2018 when he failed to show up to enter a plea in his case. A grand jury indicted Scott on nine counts of sexual battery, four counts of touching of a child for lustful purposes, and one count of child exploitation.

The victim, 14, was pregnant with Scott’s baby.

Before his disappearance, Scott had entered into a plea deal with the state for a lesser sentence and a reduction in the number of charges.

After his capture, District Attorney Angel Myers McIlrath said any plea deal was off the table.

Assistant District Attorney Justin Lovorn and defense attorney Rufus Alldredge requested a conference in the judge’s chambers Wednesday.

The judge excused the attorneys after their conference and told them to check their calendars to determine when they could go to trial ...

Note on the case:
The 14 year old had the child and DNA confirmed paternity.

In this situation, the medals can’t be revoked.

VA disability pay is interesting.

Since he is more than likely rated over 20%, his VA pay will be reduced to 10%. It can be re-evaluated and reinstated when he is released.

His step-daughter did have the child. DNA confirmed the child is his. Which could entitle her to receive benefits for the child. I am not certain, but I am almost positive, the stepdaughter could also receive VA assistance due to her trauma. There are several factors that would have to be considered and much too lengthy to condense in a short post.
