Looks like all Brandon's parents/step-parents will be in town for the bond hearing.
Parents of suspect charged with murder in Ole Miss student’s death expected to testify at bond hearing

Video at link reveals much info -- BT's four parents will testify on his character.
RSBBM

Just wait for it! Mama and Papa Watts redux. Times 2 sets of parents.

Their testifying for him is expected. Nevertheless, I hereby state for the record: Gross.

His parents will talk about how “he’s a good boy who wouldn’t hurt a fly.”

The prosecution will respond with something called “facts,” and “evidence:”

If the judge decides to approve bond; whatever the amount, then I look forward to the forthcoming recall election.

Bond? No way Jose.

Let the congregation say AMEN.

Amen!

(I want Grisham to write about this one; sounds right up his Mississippi alley with judges and attorneys possibly currying and owing favors. And where is our sad-sack, young and green but brilliant lawyer who will ensure the proper outcome?)

[Anthony] Farese, along with his cousin Steve Farese and Oxford attorney Swayze Alford make up Theesfeld’s defense team, hired by the family of the Fort Worth, Texas student who’s remained jailed since his arrest in July.

Video at link reveals much info -- BT's four parents will testify on his character.

Attorney reports BT is positive and upbeat and been candid with lawyers.

It doesn't sound like defense are disputing BT shot Ally.

Also reported that BT's sister has returned to Texas given all the attention on this case.

ETA: add Anthony to lawyer Farese team (based on video) link.
I feel terrible for his sister. Says a lot that she wasn’t listed as testifying on his behalf. She likely knows his true character. JMO

Oh boy, here we go.....
His medical history could also be discussed. Farese said his criminal record is clean.
In some states, convictions of someone younger than 16 (or other ages less than 18) are not available to the public, but in NC I have seen a case where the suspect's arrests, etc., when he was younger than 18 were openly discussed at trial by LE.
And there's always daddy's money and good attorneys and medical professionals.
Yes, I'm thinking our suspect will have some medical/psych problems, poor boy. But that coin always has 2 sides... :D

I agree with you that they will go down this tricky path of medical/psych problems.

I do wonder though if the legal teams goal is simply to make sure that BT if convicted gets life and not on death row. MOO

As friends of murdered Ole Miss student Ally Kostial work to create a memorial in her honor, the man charged in her death will appear before a judge.

An attorney for Brandon Theesfeld filed a motion for a bond hearing that will be heard Thursday in Lafayette County. Tony Farese is representing Theesfeld and says they’re requesting a reasonable bond.

“It will based on the defendant’s means. He’s just a student so he doesn’t have much means. The court will look at that. The court will look at the seriousness of the offense which is murder; a very, very serious matter,” Farese said.

How typical narc/sociopath to request that of her. Shame on him to put her through that.

Should be interesting to hear what she has to say.

Well, now, damm. Poor, impoverished, struggling student -- doesn't have much money for bail, but does have the money to get the best criminal defense attys in the state.
Maybe they'll set his bail at a reasonable $5,000 to $10,000 -- he could sell his car and maybe his weapons and somehow eke out that much money. Maybe get a tuition reimbursement since he's no longer at Ole Miss. H*ll, his jail canteen fund probably has more than that in it right now. Poor fellow. Ack.
Do they really think the public is that stoopid??
The very idea. Hideous.

Well I dare say his days at Ole Miss are over and his sister's likely are as well, thanks to her brother. That school has to be somewhat divided right now and I would hope and think more with sympathy on Ally's behalf than his by far.

Yet she is expected to testify on his behalf--or wants to? smh. It should be interesting to probably hear her describe him as the opposite of what he likely is.

No offense to the family members but I should prepare my barf bag for when we hear he was such a "good boy", great brother, the perfect child. I am also curious to see how many, if any, current classmates/friends testify on his behalf.

Jmo of course.

Ya so perfect that we had to send him to one boarding school after another because we couldn’t handle him ourselves. I dob’t think they are going to be able to portray him as this golden child with his history of misfits. Likely will have to acknowledge he had problems, but there “is a good excuse” for each mishap. JMO
As far as the sister, it’s just terrible that this black sheep of the family can now impact his sister in such a way that she feels she has to leave her school to get away from it all. Just not fair. And honestly, if I was her mom I would be telling her to stay home. If he has 4 parents there his sister doesn’t need to be any more involved than he’s already made her. Just leave the poor girl out of it. JMHO

How to Post Bail in Mississippi: 5 Things to Know

Mississippi has special rules for bail when certain serious felonies are involved. The state calls these offenses “crimes with bail restriction.” They include capital murder, murder, drive-by shooting, kidnapping, rape, sexual battery, armed robbery, carjacking, arson, burglary, obstruction of justice, escape, influencing a jury and possession of weapons by a convicted felon. For these crimes, a defendant is only allowed to post bail in cash or property or use a surety bond. If the defendant has a prior criminal record, then cash is preferred, according to state law. If you are arrested in Mississippi, here are 5 things you need to know to post bail.

ETA: Raising bail for BT may prove more difficult. Family property is out of state - no assets located in MS?

I can see the headlines now:

Promising Young Man Suffers
Psychotic Episode
Caused by Coed's Threats of her Possible Pregnancy
and her Insistence on
Immediate Marriage
Very unfortunate events for a young man who was headed for great things. Family testimony says their sensitive, hard-working, successful son and brother was on a very impressive path until he met an ambitious young coed. They were both students at Ole Miss...and so on...
---------------------
And no one can refute his "she said, I said" blather about what happened out there that night. The pitiful sole survivor will tell his side of the story. <barf>
And I would certainly think the law firm has friends in media circles.

Last news broadcast was that she was going to testify along with parents at his bond hearing.

What I meant was has something happened previously in his sister's life? I saw a few people make mention of how it would be difficult for her to testify and shame on him for having her do it. I didn't know if she had been a victim of something prior to this.
