How are things going?

Thinking of Ally’s family during the holiday season. Justice will come!

What a mess. Two lives and two families ruined forever. This young man is not insane. He is definitely troubled, and there were many red flags along the way. I'm sure that his parents were hoping that he would mature and grow out of his troublesome ways. Instead, he grew into being a murderer.

Now, he will spend the rest of his life behind bars. It doesn't matter how much money his father spends to defend him. He is destined to spend the rest of his life behind bars. That's the only way that he is going to learn that there are consequences for what you do in life. This is all my opinion.

It's too late for Ally and her family. I'm sorry that she was too nice and too naive to see the real danger in sticking with a guy like this. After all, who would really think that anyone is capable of murder? I know, when I was her age, I put myself in dangerous situations because I was young and stupid.

My thoughts and prayers are really for the healing in both families. They all are going to need it because none of them are ever going to be the same.

Ladies, let not your heart be troubled, this handsome cowboy will use the John Hinkley defense, and his fathers money, and be back in the saddle within 10 years!

You may be correct, though I certainly hope not.

Interesting, she was shot 8 times in the abdomen and a friend of his said he carried a glock that contained 8 rounds. If so, I see a feticide charge coming!
That could be a Glock 43.

Still here, Judge. No news lately from my in-state perspective unless you are following college football (which I am) and the prison riots at Parchman prison. I imagine our suspect's family will do anything to keep him out of there, especially now.

Thanks for local update @Quill.

Yezzzzzz! First thing that came to mind when Parchman riots hit the news was an image of fussy, pouting ol’ BT experiencing real fear in that setting. Who knows where he’ll end up, but what a fitting slice of justice if it were there.

Those poor, underpaid guards! What a broken system!

Snipped from the article

Orders of Continuance were filed in the capital murder cases against Matthew Kinne and Brandon Theesfeld on Monday. The first trial term of 2020 began this week, which resulted in both district attorney Ben Creekmore and the defense team for each defendant to ask for the continuances.

Snip

Regarding the case against Theesfeld, who is facing a capital murder charge in the July 2019 death of Alexandria “Ally” Kostial, the defendant was awaiting a psychiatric evaluation at the Mississippi State Hospital. The EAGLE contacted Farese about the progress of the exam, and Farese stated there have been “no updates.”

Ugly, ugly. So both capital murder defendants (Theesfeld and ex-policeman) that got continuances last Monday are represented by Farese.

Theesfeld's delayed state hospital evaluation can't be by accident either.

Justice delayed is justice denied Ally.:mad:

I believe Farese will do his best to delay this case until all who knew Ally have graduated and left Ole Miss.
Motions will be filed on any and everything.

Money keeps on talking.

You're quite right. Farese's current game plan is delay, delay, delay. His next move is to find a judge who is open to the notion of bail for Theesfeld until the trial.

Farase's strategy to let emotion and news die down before bringing out double barrels. Hope he bankrupts them.

That, sad to say, may indeed be what happens. It's amazing what million-dollar defense attorneys can do; and this defendant is so spoiled, privileged, and backed by $$$ that a sentence less than it should be, is likely, IMO.
Of course, a good prosecutor with solid evidence can also be very effective; there is good evidence, IMO, and if it is admitted, it will be hard to fight.
Hoping our immature defendant is hating every minute he spends behind bars... bad food, brief showers, rumply bed, bad smells, no maid service, mean and scary inmates, no more "normal" romancing, no little walks on campus, no more driving to his favorite tavern, no weed in his back pocket, no more cell phone, etc, etc. Tuff stuff, dude.

And one more:

Welcome to Websleuths,
boston black !!

I get concerned about the deep pockets of BT’s family too. But then again, I think Ally’s fam & friends have an influential circle as well. And they have public outrage on their side. I don’t think the ol’ Theesfeld <modsnip> tactics are going to get the results of past buyouts. Best he can hope for is massive delay. That’ll probably work here. For a while.

Just checking in...
I just checked MSM, and I didn't see anything more recent than October, 2019. I guess everything is on simmer right now -- both sides building their cases, looking to solidify the evidence, finding good psychiatric/psychological testimony witnesses, interviewing friends of the victim and suspect. Brief items before the judge, perhaps...
Maybe someone closer to the area has seen more.
So we wait, and her family mourns and prays for peace and justice in their own way. SMH.

The last update I'm aware of was Jan 7, 2020, when the first trial term of 2020 began.

It was announced then that BT and another defendant-- both indicted on murder charges last August, requested continuances. (BT also requested continuance last Oct). According to his attorney, BT is awaiting psych evaluation at MS State Hospital.

The next trial term for the Lafayette County Circuit Court will be in April, which is the earliest either trial can begin.

Continuances filed in 2019 capital murder cases
