Been following this case from the beginning. I’m from Memphis and live in MS. When Ally’s dad posted the picture of her when she was younger it reminded me a lot of my own daughter. Tough stuff. I’m aware of the main rumors out there. Will be interesting to see what comes to light once more information is revealed. The one question/comment I have. Pure speculation. But I wonder if BT called his dad after Ally was murdered and before he was arrested? Based on what his dad said shortly after BT was arrested.

I’m almost positive she did. I’d say 98% of juniors and seniors have cars at ole miss so they can drive themselves home during breaks etc. I had a few friends who weren’t allowed to have one freshmen year. And one friend who still wasn’t allowed to have one sophomore year because she lived on campus. A bus runs through her apartment complex, the retreat, that would take her to the campus but if she’s there In the summer teaching fitness classes and taking a class or two she more than likely has/had one.
Do we know their living situations? I'm assuming they were in apartments at this stage of their college careers and during the summer, but is that a correct assumption? Did they need to go to the lake for privacy - did they ever meet at each other's places instead? I know they might have roommates, but perhaps had their own bedrooms? Or did they go to that location as a habit when they wanted time together?

For locals: Does Memphis have a reputation in Oxford as the place where criminals live? I"m wondering if he planned to dispose of evidence there not only because it was far away from the scene but because locals would believe a bad person from Memphis would be a believable killer of a beautiful girl in Oxford?

Just thinking aloud, speculating, brainstorming. Not fact.

Parts of Memphis are gang infested....and very dangerous.

Study: Memphis tied for highest violent crime rate in United States

I have wondered this too!

From what we know they kept separate apartments. Ally had roommates. She lived in a complex called The Retreat. My best friend lived there, they are multilevel, usually three levels, homes. They are down a very long, hilly road so you definitely need to drive there (some homes and complexes in Oxford you can walk to and from the square easily, no need for an uber). BT we are unsure if he had roommates. From what we’ve heard/read it seems he either lives alone or was living alone for the summer (roommates back in their hometowns)

Thank you.

Very interesting if he lives alone, why the need to go to the lake to spend alone time with her? Unless he intended to do what he did in advance??

The linked source is privately owned and does not take into account extended/reduced hours applicable to specified areas.

For example, Como, Ms where Lakeside Market located has reduced hours as does Oxford.

Hours of Sale for Alcoholic Beverages
True, but while Lakeside Market has a Como address it is not in the Como town limits, and in fact is not even in the same county as Como. Lakeside Market would be governed by Lafayette County, which apparently does not reduce hours.

Anywhere in Mississippi where adjacent cities and counties have different liquor hours, you can always count on the stores being located in the jurisdiction that has the least restrictions, just across the line from the jurisdiction with limited hours or other restrictions.

Well I guess you were lucky. I have heard different from other people who don't remember a thing literally. Alcohol makes a balanced mind UNbalanced, even more so if you have a huge consumption. He called her late at night so I presume he had been drinking to beat the band.

Respectfully, I have trouble believing that. Not remember anything at all? Can't recall any of my friends, with whom I partied, to ever say anything like that. We all were capable of remembering stuff, especially significant stuff, like even having a fight with a boyfriend, or with a friend. So, it's hard for me to believe that someone would forget killing someone just because there was alcohol involved. I also don't believe that alcohol makes anyone do anything that they absolutely wouldn't do, I can understand not wanting to sing a song on karaoke night when you're sober versus being willing to sing when you have had a few drinks, but killing someone? You really have to have that in you already, those thoughts, that rage.

They will stick with the case for the money for sure. And even if he is guilty it’s the attorneys job to create doubt. If everything we’ve heard is accurate. There won’t be much doubt though.

Thanks for the info.

I guess I"m not clear in my question as I'm not looking for facts as much as perception in the local community. But I'm dropping the question as I don't think I'm understood well. Thank you, though!

The answer to your question is, "Yes, the students of Ole Miss and the Oxford population are very aware of Memphis' reputation as a dangerous place." (But isn't everyone?!)

There are parts of the city that are very safe but many areas are known for drug and gang activity. The area where Brandon was arrested is one of those....big time!

Ole Miss is almost considered a local school as it's an hour away so many Memphis people go to school there.

Big rivalry between Ole miss and Memphis in sports. Ole miss fans/locals call Memphis tiger high. I would guarantee the perception from BT’s perception of Memphis is very low. So, would he in theory, go to Memphis to dispose of weapon and clothes. Absolutely. Especially in south Memphis. There’s got to be more to this story though.

I recall earlier reports saying Ally was "dumped" at Buford's Ridge" but we now know there is video surveillance of BT and Ally together at Lakeside Market only hours before police located her body. I also think the Ridge is the sight of the crime with evidence that led directly to him. MOO

I wonder if there are tire tracks?

Let's just agree to disagree.:)

It doesn't seem like he has any friends. At least none that have spoken out in any significant way. It's entirely possible they were asked not to speak out by his defense, but I think it's much more likely that he does not have close true friends, more just acquaintances, people he drinks with, party bros. And a few people who have spoken seem to have been fine steering well clear of him because he was not a nice person. (I'm being tactful.)

snipped by me....

I was going to post this same observation. There have been no friends coming to his defense, or expressing disbelief at his arrest. It's been quite the opposite.

Poor Ally. I wish she had broken away from him before his toxicity resulted in her murder.

I have heard of people killing when drunk and not remembering. Alcohol is a mind killer.
There are people that have said that they never saw BT sober. This kid may have been doing both drugs and alcohol. I truly believe that he could have blacked out on more than one occasion and not remembered a thing.

I'm not saying that happened on this occasion because how could you hit your target several times if you are totally that messed up?

I know that back in the day, when I was a total idiot, I probably blacked out at times when I didn't remember things that I did. I'm not proud of the fact; and, by the grace of God, I never hurt anyone and never killed myself or was murdered.

I'm 180 degrees different than that today; however, I was an idiot back in the day. I will be the first person to admit it.

I don’t understand the overkill. Why shoot her 8 times?
Why leave her to be found?.
This feels like a warning
God forbid another Ted Bundy

IMO, it shows rage towards and familiarity with the victim. Overkill due to anger.
Example -- If the incident was a rape (an example, not reality of this case) of someone unknown, the rapist would probably fire one, maybe two, sure shot(s) to the heart or to the back of the head, etc., and GTH outta there.

This murder IMO was like slapping someone in the face, or punching someone in the gut: "Take that, b****, and that, and that, and that..." and so on. Revenge. An "I'll show you," type thing.

As I understand it, the number of times she was shot hasn’t been specified by the medical examiner. It was rumored that she was shot 8 times, but the official wording only said “multiple times.”

You are correct, but the initial official reports released did say she was shot 8 times. That was the first word, but it has since been changed to "multiple".
