Man Charged In Connection With Double Shooting In Tchula

TCHULA, Miss. -- One man was killed and another injured following a shooting in Tchula Sunday night, police said.

Three men were riding in a car when an altercation broke out and one of them asked to see the other’s gun, an investigator with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Department. Ladrick Benford is accused of then pulling out a pistol and shooting Overton Partrick, who fell or jumped out of the car and took off running, the Sheriff’s Department said. Benford is also accused of shooting Anthony Petty, who died at the scene, investigators said.

Patrick ran off into the woods and was later taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, investigators said.

Benford was arrested and charged in connection with the shooting and slaying Monday afternoon, the Sheriff's Department said.
