It’s going to be challenging to ID body found in Mississippi Sound, officials say

Biloxi Fire and Rescue and the Department of Marine Resources went to the scene south of the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art Tuesday morning

The body was brought to shore about 9 a.m.

A charter boat captain had notified DMR of a body in the water about 8 a.m., said DMR spokeswoman Melissa Scallan.

The man had no identification on him, Hargrove said.

“We’re trying to get him identified, but right now we have no clue who he was or what he was doing in the water.”

A body discovered in the Mississippi Sound south of Biloxi on Tuesday has been identified as 24-year-old Daniel Dellapenna of Ocean Springs.

How Dellapenna got in the water is still unknown, but anyone with information is urged to contact Biloxi police investigators, Harrison County Chief Deputy Coroner Brian Switzer said.

His sister called to file a missing persons report. It was the man found in the Sound.
