Identified! MS - Covington Co., Body found near Lake Mike Connor, Apr'16 - Bennie Barnes

The body was found near Lake Mike Connor, close to the Jeff Davis County line late Saturday evening, according to Covington County Sheriff Stann Smith.

"We can't tell if it's a male or female, the body is just to badly decomposed," said Smith.

According to Covington County Sheriff's investigators, the remains were identified as 63-year-old Bennie Barnes, of Collins.

I'm not finding any indication that this person had been reported missing.

I googled the name and found a person of that age and town who's a registered sex offender. Not positive it's the same person though so I won't post the link.

Respectable decision on that. Considering the town is of 2500 people, I'm guessing it is him, but we can wait and see if the sex offender listing disappears at some point.
