Ground and air search conducted for missing Ripley man

An extensive ground and air search was conducted Thursday for a Ripley man who has been missing for almost two weeks.

Ripley Police Department and Tippah County Sheriff's Department, along Union County Search and Rescue, Desoto County Search and Rescue, several area volunteer firefighters and a private helicopter and drones, swept areas in north Ripley Thursday, Dec. 14 for David Scott Rust, 48, of Ripley.

Rust was last seen north of Ripley on MS 15 walking southbound on Friday, Dec. 8. According to Tippah County Sheriff Karl Gaillard, Thursday's search covered area's between Rust's home and the location where he was last seen but produced no new evidence.

RIPLEY, Miss. (WTVA) - Authorities in Tippah County discovered a body Saturday afternoon.
The body was found off of Highway 15 in Ripley.
Tippah County Coroner Chris Mcallister says they believe it is the body of David Rust, of Ripley, who has been missing since December 8.

Mcallister said the body will be sent for an autopsy next week and they hope to know more when results are in. No visible trauma was seen on the body.
