poor kind boy there is always the theory that he left everything behind and that he could start over or that he was kidnapped.. but I always believe that in these inexplicable cases of disappearance of adults it is that he was abducted or crossed some portal in the area where he was seen by last time..
rest in peace

He was last seen after leaving the home of a friend, Ralph Orr, on Old Highway 51 South. He’d begun walking across a field in the direction of his home, but never made it there. (...) I decided to do a quick search on Ralph Orr, the friend he was visiting, and whose property was searched several years later. There were two Ralph Orr’s in the area, a father and son. The son would have been about 16 in 1979, but the father was mixed up in some things. In 1975, his gun was used to commit a murder, though Ralph was not the shooter. In 2004, he was charged with sex crimes involving a minor. He died in 2008.

In recent years, the police and the FBI were contacted via mail and phone calls by anonymous persons claiming to know what happened to him, but couldn't give their name.
Most recently, the property owned by a Sharon Amason was searched by investigators- documents related to this court order included looking into wells, ponds, and homes on the property. They turned up empty handed. Sharon would have been 16 in 1979- perhaps the property had once belonged to her parents.

Is Ralph Orr related to Sharon Amason?

Survivors include three sons, Michael Orr of Bellevue, Nebraska, Ralph Orr Jr.of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Robert Orr of Winona; sister, Mae Ethel Taylor of Jackson; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Leon Taylor, Chris Taylor, Michael Amason, Roy Orr, Robert Montana, and Sidney Orr, Jr.
